About Me
B.B. CONNELL
BB is a singer/guitarist originally from the Caribbean island of Barbados. He played in a number of bands in Barbados, like Serenaders, Electrons and Outfit, before going on to Canada, touring there, with Outfit, for 2 and a half years, mainly throughout Quebec.
After returning to Barbados, BB was asked to join Rhapsody, a popular Bajan band making waves in Germany. Rhapsody was chosen to perform beside UB40, Wailers, Ziggy Marley and the Melodymakers and Aswad on their tours of Germany. Other tours were with Billy Preston, Buddy Miles and the Mighty Rhythm Tribe, and Kaoma(the Lambada people). Rhapsody was also selected as backing band for Eek-a-Mouse and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
Rhapsody recorded an Album, "Sunsplash Cocktail," on which 4 of the tracks were written, composed and performed by BB.
After Rhapsody, BB joined Vitamin X, a popular african reggae band in Germany. Vitamin X was also chosen as backing band for Eek a mouse on his 2005 european club tour. BB is still an active member of Vitamin X, performing throught Europe.
BB also had the pleasure of performing in Serbia with Ras Abraham for the unveiling of the Bob Marley statue, in the village of Banatski Sokolac.
2009 saw BB recording his first solo CD called "The Conscious Album." It was a solo effort in the true sense of the word, in that the writing, composing, vocals, live guitar, computer programming of drums and keyboards, and recording were all done at home by BB. It was like a one man band, "The Afro-Bajan Music Machine!" The Album was mixed by Andi Kerl of Trusound, and mastered by Tom Ripphahn of Analoghaus.
BB has numerous compositions, and already has concepts for two more albums.
So, stay tuned, the Afro-Bajan Music Machine is rolling! And in the meantime, get "Conscious" and stay "Conscious!"
