Top professionals acclaim his work! It seems like only yesterday that Tony King was heralded as "the biggest, new major star" for his portrayal of Stick Henderson in Mike Frankovich's "Report to the Commissioner". His performance in the chase sequence turned New York City into a spectacle for weeks and brought raves from local and worldwide press. Tony entered films via the East Coast Stuntman's Association. He rapidly advanced to feature roles in "Hell Up In Harlem", "Shaft", "The Godfather", "Klute" and "Panic In Needle Park".
The handsome, athletic actor has been called the best of the former pro athletes in films. His film experience helped him land a leading role in NBC's tv series "Bronk", also starring Jack Palance. His work was impressive and soon he guest starred in "Serpico" and "BJ & the Bear". His television performances made him the unanimous choice as the intense and powerful Satin Struthers in Warner Brothers' production of "Sparkle". After completing a series of guest and starring roles in the United States, Europe and Asia, he played the role of Tiger in Joe Savage's "Apocalypse", "The Last Hunter", Sharkey's Machine", Inmates", "A Love Story", "Foster & Laurie", "The Toy", "The Big Score", "Bucktown" and "Gordon's War". He also traveled to Hawaii to film "Magnum PI" with Tom Selleck.
In 1984, Tony was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio along with his older brother Charlie King. Tony and Charlie are the NFL/AFL's first African-American siblings to play professional football on the same team, at the same time on the Buffalo Bills 1967 team roster.
After football, Tony became one of New York's top male ad models, working with top photographers such as Hiro, Richard Avedon, Bill King, Tony Barboza, Tom Jackson and Francesco Scavullo. He became a CLIO and CEBA Award winner in national commercials for Coca-Cola and Budweiser Beer, shot by Steve Horn in New York and Joe Pytka in Los Angeles. He and Joe Pytka teamed up for over 15 national and international commercials.
His other talents have been as a make-up artist, motivational speaker at high schools and colleges, and Show Coordinator and Chief of Security for the O'Jays and Millie Jackson. Currently, Tony is Chief of Security for the rap group Public Enemy, and Protocol and Security Aide to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. Tony is President of Global Security.
