Stella Octangula

Stella Octangula started playing together in late 2006 comprising the three original members, Laura, Amelie and Mark. We were joined by Dan on bass in late 2007, who played with us until recently and at the moment we are playing as a four piece with Sam joining us on guitar. We have played at venues such as Higher Ground, Fowlers, the Rhino Room, fundraising events and the Black Box Cafe. We are looking to do a few more gigs sometime soon so if you are interested, contact us :-)Our band was named on a whim after Kepler's famous Stella Octangula, a polyhedron compound composed of two tetrahedra positioned at 180° to one another creating an eight pointed 3D star, sometimes imbued with mystical properties (and in this case, killer harmonies).We play original material with folk, electronic and ambient acoustic influences. Our music incorporates the beautiful timbre of acoustic violin and viola as well as the unique addition of electric violin, some keyboard work, evocative vocal harmonies and a strong lyrical focus. Creative and ornate acoustic guitar creations feature prominently, and we have been experimenting recently with the addition of electric guitar and cello on a few tracks.Most of the songs to date have been written by Amélie and Laura, who have been playing music together as sisters for many years.
