DJ Hernan Acevedo, belongs to a select group of DJ’s based in Medellin-Colombia, a pioneer of the “mix shows” of electronic music. Twenty years ago, web known Acevedo presented a different kind of proposition for the city, this marked the starting point of the wide fan base that electrónica currently enjoys. Along with John W, Diego Serrato and Javier Arcila (Mr. House), all prominet DJ’s at the time, they dared to take the “plates” out of the radio stations and into the streets and the more important plazas of the entire country, gathering thousands of fans of house and turning them on to the rhytms that were rartely known back in tose days. His experience, spanning two decades gave him the status as a mainstay in Colombia until the end of the 90’s as one of the most dynamic DJ’s on the scene. He won the DJ’s DMC championship several years in a row and came in second place at the national level. He was also a web known on-air personality on several mix shows on radio stations such as “Veracruz Stereo” “Todelar” (currently “The X”) Medellin’s and Bogota’s Super-Station, and “The Mega” in Cartagena; sharing into the history of modern anglo music in Colombia, side-by side with some of the greatest radio masters such as “Tito” Lopez, Donnie Miranda And Carlos Alberto Rios. Along the way Acevedo also made his mark on some of the trendiest dicos in Medellin leaving his personal signature on the house gendre in places such as Plataforma, Bunker, and Exxilio XXI. He also shared the stage with luminaries of the Colombian Scene such as Fruto Mejia Gabriel Odin, DJ Owy, DJ and producer William Umana and other prominent DJs and producers such as DJ First, Southern Brothers, DJ Boom, Carlos Montes, DJ Tusso, to name a few. His desire to research the rotos of electrónica took him to the US in 2000 where he continued to grow professionally. He also had the chance to grow at many international efvents like Winter Music Conference and to play stages with world class DJs like Patrick M, DJ Wady and Johny Ramírez. He also showed his craft in a sample of different trendy spots in Florida such as Nikki Beach, Pealr, Crobar, Felt Lounge,Automatic Slim, Indra and Mango’s. This experience gave Acevedo more seasoning and experience on new trends and tendencies like Funky, Tribal, Deep House, Tech House, Minimal, Progressive House, Elektro and House.
