I am Barge, Sacramento's conduit for all that is metal. I enjoy pork, football, MMA, virtually any international competition (upto and including starcraft), really expensive beer, and of course gentlemanly leisure.
I have been hosting The Forge for over a year now. My vision for the show has been to have a metal show that played music that is unavailable to the masses. Music that no radio station in the Sacramento area (or most of the United States for that matter) would hardly ever, if at all, play. For the last year I have met this vision playing great new metal from around the nation, and around the world, in fact the vast majority of the bands that I regularly play happen to be from outside the United States. Over the last year I have noticed that while I have been playing a lot of “smaller†bands from “smaller†labels, I have done little if anything to help promote new music. It is from this observation that I have decided to refocus the show around promoting unsigned, or independent bands from around the world. After having a great experience with an unsigned band who will go unnamed (thanks Marino) I got a new idea. Now lets get one thing straight. I will still play great music, regardless of where they are on the food chain. You will still here from the modern powerhouses of metal such as In Flames, Amon Amarth, Killswitch Engage, Dragonforce, Static X, etc. and I will still play lesser known bands from major labels such as Dethklok, Alestorm, Svartsot, Firestorm etc. The only difference is now I will be making a concious effort to contact different bands from around the world. Basically “The Forge†is now about bringing bands from around the world, to fans from around the world via KSSU 1580 AM, KYDS 91.5 FM and most importantly kssu.com.
