Myspace Layouts by MySugarSpace.comWelcome to the world of Roy Maloy - Prince of Australian Vaudeville! (Herald Sun - 2002)I have always found it difficult to put a finger on what I do as a performer. Slapping lables on things usually omits a lot of details that are important. I was given the title 'the Prince of Australian Vaudeville' in 2002 by a journalist at the Herald Sun newspaper and it seemed to tally up what I do more closely than I had been able to before. When I perform it is usually at large outdoor events or at large festivals. I perform routines as circle shows, and I perform stage shows. I incorporate circus arts such as stilt walking, barrel and board and tightrope into my shows, but also lean on cabaret by working music, song, dance and other effects in. I borrow a lot of performance structure from the 1920's vaudeville and comedy performers too. At an average event I will usually perform between 6 and 8 different shows, with separate material in each show and will take what I get as far as stage, PA system and so on. I cut my teeth as a busker so I prefer to work without a microphone if I can get away with it. I perform about 40 weekends a year and work in several countries, but mainly in Australia. If you are a performer I would love to know you and would be equally as interested in knowing your story. If you saw my show and enjoyed it I would love to be linked as a friend to you so that I can post bulletins of up coming shows you might like a free ticket or two to.I have begun a new hobby of posting clips of my shows on youtube, so please check it out and subscribe if you can. http://www.youtube.com/user/roymaloydotcomMay all your days be Vaudeville days!!!
