Apollo The Great was born and raised in Camden County, NJ. He learned early on what it meant to be a man due to losing his father at the tender age of 6. Growing up in a single parent household in Camden wasn’t easy but his older cousins were always the "father figures" for him. He looked up to them as role models and allowed them to mold him into the core of who he is today. It was their influences and the influences of the environment around him that brought him to hip-hop.
Apollo recalls, “At my Aunt Debra's house on 38th street is were I first fell in love with hip hop. My big cousin was always blasting Nas or Jay-Z. I would learn the words to all the songs and then make my own words to them.â€
In his adolescence Apollo was part of the group Jersey's Finest, recording on a Casio karaoke machine and passing out tapes around school. It wasn't until high school that Apollo got into an actual studio. Throughout high school he put out various mix tapes and continued growing as an artist. After countless mix tapes and talent shows Apollo still felt as though he hadn’t found his “sound". Eventually, as things tend to do, everything came to an end with the group and Apollo started working on a solo career. After bouncing around a lot with different studios and producers in South Jersey he met a talented young producer by the name of Fame. After developing a strong bond with Fame they teamed up to make Apollo’s first full-feature album, H.I.M (History In the Making). Today Apollo is considered one of if the best underground hip-hop artists in South Jersey.
