Dexter Romweber and the New Romans

Dexter Romweber and the new Romans were formed in 2006. Drummer Dave Schmitt started the band as vehicle for his long time friend Dexter Romweber to play with other musicians. The band has since metamorphosed into much more. An ensemble of seven musicians with three female backing, vocalists. Playing mostly in their home state of N.C and more specifically the triangle area (Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Durham). As of late making excursions in V.A with more to come.Dexter: ''We try not to pick songs or song styles from any one genre. We draw influences from all over. Jazz, Surf, early instrumentals, Bill Haley, Ella Fitzgerald, even a Chopin number''. “We’ve played parties, weddings, nightclub gigs and even bug conventions...We’ll keep playing as long as there’s a show booked”. They continue experimenting every Thursday night in Romweber’s garage. “We’re always looking for strange new sounds, and strange new surroundings to bring our music to you”
