Tired of Trying

About Me

In 2001 two old friends came together to form a band to fill a niche for themselves. Tired of rich kid punk rock and tough guy hardcore, they brought a voice for everyday jerks of the hard road. Of course I speak of the underdogs of Green Mountain Hardcore--Tired of Trying.Their music is as much for the diehard punk and hardcore fans as it is for those who know more about hard work than hardcore. These are guys who grew up with the aggression of 80s straight edge bands like Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, Slapshot, and Youth of Today. Tired of Trying's sound and message reflects those roots but is heavily shaded (or jaded) by the life experience of the band members, the paycheck to paycheck, back breakin' reality of life from the outside looking in.Tired of Trying is a rarity that balances a punk idealism and a working class cynicism. Always honest, sometimes brutally so, never taking themselves too seriously, this is music of, by, and for frustrated, post punk, workin' class slobs. The name Tired of Trying came out of a long, painful, bad luck process. After about five names, including F-150; Stunt Cocks; and The Beers (of which two were already taken and the third was a scary copyright infringement) they were tired of trying to come up with a name. With a little inspiration from Paul Bearer it seemed to fall into place--reflecting the frustration common to them all. There have been more members in the last two years in this band than anyone can count. Eric and Dave were the founding members and were eventually joined by Mike, the drummer born to hold it all together. Dave was the original drummer, became the vocalist and now pulls double duty singing and playing bass. After an uphill battle the three piece is finalized and putting the cliche of hardcore punk on its ass.Tired of Trying's self-released, self-titled album is their first effort with ten tracks clocking in at just under 30 minutes. With only 10 hours in the studio to record and mix, the album has been well received."...Packed with brutal shreds of guitar and anti-establishment lyrics... hard and fast take no prisoners rock. Tired of Trying takes no breathers, pummeling through the tunes with a manic energy rarely found on modern punk records. Tired of Trying may not be for everyone, but if you're looking for a band pumped to the gills with apocalyptic mayhem and malt liquor, search no further." -Seven Days March 2003
