About Me

Layout by CoolChaserJingle Bells...Is what we all will be singing before I get this all posted....For some reason I loose it every time! Guess I'll do it parts: and now, part #1-It's all about God/Salvation,family,friends,music and laughter; the universal language. I am a proud father and was recently blessed with my 1st grandson! I will post some pics of my son, Joshua Cale Fallin, his beautiful wife Angela Turner Fallin, and thier son Jack Henry Fallin ASAP! They be my pride and joy :) Before going on about me (which I can) I want to thank my webmistress and friend for over 35 years for putting this site and my music page: myspace.com/markfallin together nd maintaining them. While trying to get me up to speed on the pc-kudos to you and much thanks my dear friend. Now back to me! Oh yeah, my son is hooked up with an outfit called "Phantom Wingo" Check 'em out - myspace.com/phantomwingo. They are an energetic fluid-drive mix of blues,jam,funk-n-roll band playing mostly their own tunes. I love to sit in with these guys when I can, Greg Allman likes them too. He drops in to catch a show from time to time... NOW, "About Me"...part...2! As you can tell from the pics and videos on the page you can see I've been into music entertainment all my life. Always encouraged at an early age by my parents,I was always eager to entertain-either from home or the bowling ally nursery , singing "Wont you come home Bill Baily?" or a Hank Williams song or two. I actually began playing profesionally at 15-playing drums for a popular rock band from Statesboro,Ga: "Critacal Mass". They were changing formats when I joined and renamed the group "Rockin' Horse". I was exposed to a broader array of artists-tunes by "Poco","Amazing Rhytm Aces", Commaneder Cody and his Lost Planet Airman", original Chuck Berry arrangements. We also covered already familiar artist such as: "The Byrds", "Dylan","Rick Nelson", "Grateful Dead", "Eagles". A bit more on the mellow side compared to what I was playing: "Pink Floyd", "Allman Brothers","Johnny Winter", "Cream",etc. I showed intrest in drums and guitar but leaned more toward drums at first. I also learned a few chords and learned some country standards from the am radio as well as a few tunes I picked up from my Moms 78's-"silver Haired Daddy of mine", "Wreck of the ole '97". I dissed the drums for an acoustic guitar and began eternal woodshedding in the early 70's. I purchased a 74 Gibson Gospel guitar that has been with me since. Although not listed, I received a degree in '77 for HAVC. Left that trade and took a job feeding show horses for my good friend Doc Kilday. I lived on the grounds in an old farmhouse and Doc and I spent many afternoons watching the sun set and playing some tunes...He was a very accomplished harmonica player. The Charlie McCoy chromatic style. We usually played till dark and the belly started to rumble, them head for a local restaurant/lounge called "The Country Inn". It was at this club I was offered my first solo gig! More on this to come in part 3...and now, part 3.... TUNES NOW AVAILABLE!!! Album: "CHRISTIAN EAR CANDY" downloads at: emusic, iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster,& GROUPIE TUNES. Artist: Mark Fallin Also, please check out myspace.com/markfallin to hear complete versions of the songs, blogs, etc. After playing at "The country Inn" and a few other clubs in town I met and jammed with Roy McComas who was putting together a listening room act. I moved to Savannah Ga. and played lead/slide, and backing vocals in Roys' trio, with Roy on guitar and lead vocals and Luther Herring on upright bass, juice-harp, and backing vocals. We played the Southeast and recorded an album of Roys tunes. About this time I started learning electric guitar, and soon moved on to play lead/slide in several groups. I eventually teamed up with Mike Burke on bass guitar and Jay Ohsiek on percussion/drums and back up vocals, and with the occaissinal 4th member played predominately 3pc for about 23 years...out of java, part 4 soon....really. We only found one "kindred spirit" for a fourth member that truely fit in, Tommy Preston. At the time Tommy played several strats, and our styles and our abiltiy to feel and swap leads without so much as a nod was almost uncanny! Tom had the Stevie Ray, original blues roots (which he used quite well) while I had a more Allman,ZZ Top style - with the full foundation Mike and Jay provided we were able to become a jam band if the occaission called for it...even if it did'nt call for it! We had a blast. Tommy moved to North Ga. in the 90's and we continued playing regularly until I was diagnosed with chronic hepatitus-c,also known as "The Silent Killer"; the #1 caule for liver transplants in the nation. I never used IV drugs, never had a transfusion, nor was it the type developed from alcohol intake. Non the less it literally knocked me to my knees and stopped me in my tracks. I took the interferon-riboviran treatments for over 6 months only to find I was in the no responder catagory. I eventually had to give up live performing by 2002 and "Hot Cargo" unfortunately disbanded. Tommy and I are in touch all the time and are planning some recording sessions ASAP. Same with my best friend Jay. Mike began a new journey of his own and we hear from him or about him from time to time. I really do miss me mates! More info on living with hep-c in my blogs both here and my music page: myspace.com/markfallin. Much more to share about me, but I'm all funned out at the moment. Thanks for reading, the adds, and the comments. M.G.B...The Thin One....<><
