welcome to Bright, the portion of the blank the plague mother umbrella dedicated to the unique handmade objects that we wouldn't mind selling to you.
so, why a profile of nothing but product? doesn't that defy everything that blank the plague stands for?
actually, no. we're not completely anti-capitalism, just anti mega-corporate-world-domination-crush-all-things-in-the-way-
of-profit capitalism. we are, on the contrary, all for being able to buy really cool stuff. we enjoy aesthetic pleasure as much as the next guy. and we think it's ideal when you can buy said really cool stuff from people that actually made what they're selling with their own hands, rather than things that were mass-produced in a factory. we think it's nice when you can have things customized, and when you can communicate with the person who designed the stencil on your shirt, and when you know that no one was oppressed in producing the gift that you're giving to your sister for her birthday (or whatever). we're pretty into living in a world that is aesthetically pleasing, where you can get fun things that make you happy without having to avoid thinking about where those things came from. so yes, we think that that this all fits in pretty well with everything we stand for.
of course everything we'll ever sell will be vegan. as much as possible, things are re-used and re-purposed, like the multitude of beauties that come from the pages of old magazines, and shirts that are no longer loved that we can give new life to with a snazzy stencil. why should a good housekeeping from 1974 go to waste when it could be used instead to mail letters to your friends? the simple answer is that it shouldn't. and why not make journals out of all those one sided copies that turned out to be useless? journals are very useful - you can write things down in them, see.
as you may know, we have traditionally used thrift store shirts for printing, and we intend to continue doing so. big news in that department though: keeping all fingers crossed, we should soon be introducing a "fancy" line of (maybe) silkscreened shirts on american apparel shirts... oh dear, does that make us hip? these will of course have to be a little more pricey, but for vertically integrated non-sweatshop fashion, we think it's worth it. don't you?
browse to your heart's content; in the near future you'll find a price list, ordering information, and an explanation of shirt printing in our blog. until then, please feel free to drop a line with any questions and / or befriend us!
heart,
Bright.
