Gerhard Hetzendorfer, percussionist, singer, composer was born 1963 in Krems/Austria. Since childhood he was surrounded by music and studied flute for some years. His first gig was in his hometown with the rockgroup Stone Free. Then he also worked with Cockpit, the singer Martin Lichtenwallner, Quick Lunch and many others.
1989 he recorded his first LP with musical partner saxophonplayer Christian Renk. They formed the duo "Novotatio" and toured all Austria.
1992 Gerhard moved to Brazil to discover the Latin Rhythms. In Rio de Janeiro he had the great opportunity to work and record with great musicians like Ricco Duarte, Tito Madi, Monica Maciel, Carmen Costa, Ataulfo Alves Jr., Rudi Berger, Abel Duere among others.
On his first CD "World of Colored Dreams" special guests like Robertinho Silva,Chiquito Braga, Raul de Souza, Carlos Negreiros, Luciano Alves and producer Marcelo Salazar joined him in the studio.
With brazilian world famous trombone player Raul de Souza he travelled 1997 through Austria and Germany.
Rudi Berger invited him to record together with Toninho Horta and Selma Reis the track "Pilar" on his CD "Postcard from Brazil".
Before returning to Austria Gerhard recorded his second CD in Rio with great musicians like Bororo, Luanda Cozetti, Harold Emert, Gabriel Improta among others.
2002 he came back to Austria and started to work with trombone players Charly Wagner and Jacques Nobili in the Project "Brazil World Beat".
Gerhard joined the group "Just for Funk" (Shows and Recording Session).
2005 he took part of the "Austrian World Music Award Final" where he played with gipsy gitarrist Buko Weinrich and Romenian singer Claudia Cervenca.
Studio Wizard Georg Luksch did two remixes from the "Batuk" Album and started with Gerhard the project "Batuquinho".
Right now he is working on a new project together with percussion legend Nicos Jaritz by mixing Afro Brazil with Cuban Rhythms.
