It's easy to become a Parent and you never have to justify yourself. It takes someone special to be a Step-Parent and you are under considerable scrutiny. Families are difficult at the best of times. We're not perfect, but we're simply saying, we would like to be recognised too.
No such Step Parent Day exists in Australia. We would like to nominate January 29th as that day, the reason being that it preceeds Mothers & Fathers Day in every other country.
We've suffered enough bad press in the popular media and through the actions of a minority; being a step parent takes great courage & a whole lot of love.
