The Foundation's Board of Directors were formerly volunteers for Mr. Lee's widow, Frances Lee Pearson, who wished to establish the Foundation in her late husband's memory. The Foundation has three goals-1. To bring to light the life story of Canada Lee, who was a pioneering performing artist and a tireless advocate for the civil rights of all Americans.2. To replenish the Canada Lee Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Schomberg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York City, which provides a collegiate scholarship for African American Theater Artists.3. To create a new scholarship for artists of all races and disciplines who are developing work centered on multicultural unity, or the bridging of social gaps between people of different religions, ethnicities, races, or economic backgrounds.More information on the Foundation, its Directors, and its aims can be found in the profile blog.
