Today's Hip Hop has become a diluted version of talent, originality, and potency. Falling record sales have birthed dance-instructor rappers only concerned with fame, popularity contests, and a quick buck. Love is perhaps the most powerful force. That being said, very few Hip Hop artists have true love for the music and their craft. Fans of Hip Hop are heartbroken, and are in dire need to have this love rekindled. Brainwavezz refuses to conform to this current music industry trend, and stands to bridge the gap of love between Hip Hop and its fans.
Born and raised in the East side of Atlanta, Georgia, Brainwavezz has been exposed to a diverse group of all walks of life. Just about everything from the streets, gangs, crime, drugs, poverty, and prostitution to everyday 9 to 5 struggles to make ends meet, church and ministry, collegiate life, and the corporate world, to the very educated, wealthy, and famous, his eyes have seen and experienced. At a very young age, he was a talented tap dancer, poet, and fictional writer. In high school, he was an inspiring R&B singer and songwriter, and later became a unique rap artist who even performed and networked with talented underground artists as well as successful rap artists such as Ludacris and Little John & the Eastside Boyz just to name a few. Brainwavezz was mostly known in the Atlanta underground Hip Hop scene a few years back with his song, “Da Beast From Da East” under his former name Dimensional a.k.a. 3D that he duoed with his long time friend, Atanio “Infrared” that received airplay on Atlanta urban radio.
During this particular time offers from labels and managers started to roll in. Also, the street life and his home environment were really beginning to take its toll on him. It was at this time that Brainwavezz felt a pull on his life to start living a better life and make better decisions. One of those decisions included to take his music career into a more positive direction.
During this positive transition, Brainwavezz first took a break from his music career and begun to seek an understanding of who he really was, his relationships with his family, friends, community, and where he stood with God. At the age of twenty-three, he decided to resume his music career. He then created a professional project recording studio now known as Brainwave Studios, and began gaining producing experience recording demos for several underground artists.
As a Rap Artist, Captivating Performer, Songwriter, Engineer, and Producer, Brainwavezz started a very unique and versatile "Dirty South" style of rap music, with a sound akin to Ludacris, Outkast, and Three 6 Mafia mixed with Nas, Kanye West, and Lupe Fiasco type lyrics. Brainwavezz’s style also consists of fast flowing, thugged out, shoot-from-the-hip, real-life, brutally honest, dirty south style lyrics that are extremely addicting yet simple to understand. He attacks the subject matters that are on the minds and in the hearts of many people, yet most artists are afraid to do for fear of lack of music industry acceptance. Brainwavezz is a true lyricist, a Hip Hop lover's dream come true.
In 2005, Brainwavezz started his co-owned label, Gospel Rhymes Records, LLC where he launched his successful debut album, "From Dah Streets 2 Dah Church" in 2006. The album was a hit, was one of the most talked about albums in the Christian Rap and church ministry scene, and even gained attention and a following outside of its market.
Despite success, In 2007, Brainwavezz felt another pull on the direction of his music career, and resigned as Vice-President of Gospel Rhymes Records, LLC. He then took a short musical hiatus to focus on the business aspects of the music industry including obtaining his Associate's Degree in Business Administration, finishing his dual concentration Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Marketing, and determining the musical direction he wants to take his career.
During this hiatus period, many people have been requesting his musical presence. Brainwavezz has now chosen to answer this call in 2008 by starting his own record label Think About It Records, and fearlessly targeting the mainstream Hip Hop scene with his best material yet!
