Flatrock

Based out of Mobile Alabama, Flatrock draws on countless musical influences to deliver a unique brand of acoustic music. The members come from diverse musical backgrounds and have been members of major local area bands for years. From opening acts for performers such as John Prine to winning local accolades, the members of this band have truly done it all. Tom Thomas (bs. mando, vox) and Karl Betts (mando, fiddle, guit., vox) come from the well known local and regional band Moon to Wolves. Michael Arata (drums, vox) has played and sang with a number of high profile bands which include Excalibur, Split Decision, Hickory Wind, Mr. X, Chapter 11 and Sax Appeal and has also played in house bands at Austin's Country Palace, Castaway's and several other top country bars in the area. Steve Varnes (guitar, mando, vox) was with the original Flatrock in the 1970s, worked with local and Nashville favorite Lisa Zanghi, and has recorded with Nashville artist Tammy Vice. You will hear music from Bluegrass to Steely Dan, Little Feat and Ryan Adams. Tight grooves and stellar musical craftsmanship make this band a local favorite.
