My musical career started at birth. Both of my parents are fluent musicians and singers. At the age of five, my father started teaching me how to play classical piano. I seemed to show some talent, so I was under the tutelage of great instructors in no time. My Mom, being the proud mother that she is, also had my sister Lena and I, in every musical production performed by our church as well as her Choir, "El Coro Borincano".My Salsa, professional singing career began shortly after being discovered during a performance at my collegiate school, Hostos Community College. My "Big Break" came when I later joined "Ernie Acevedo y su Conjunto Imagen" in 1995. As one of the few females to sing with a "Conjunto", I took advantage of this opportunity by becoming familiar and versatile with the different sounds of Salsa, perfecting my feel for "LA CLAVE", including rhythms such as "Son Montuno", "Guaguanco", "Charanga", "Salsa Gorda" and contemporary styles of today! My "signature" is found in my unique sound....a combination of raspy, sexy, R&B and a latin flavor that is well suited for this type of music! My upbringing in communities like "El Barrio" and "the South Bronx", in New York and the island of Puerto Rico, have all contributed in helping me acquire my own musical style that is recognized and admired among hardcore New York salseros! My extensive background includes working with numerous popular artists such as Aris Martinez, Cheo Medina, Nestor Sanchez, Raulin Rosendo, Ray Sepulveda and others! In New York, I've performed at some of the most popular Latin music dance venues including, "Broadway II", "Latin Quarters", "Les Poulets", "The Abyss", "The CopaCabana", "The Flamingo" and more!My recording history includes some of the following:1993- Louis George and the Salsa Gang / 1995- Grupo Magia, Ernie Acevedo y su Conjunto Imagen (Encuentro Especial), Ernie Acevedo y su Conjunto Imagen (Christmas with Imagen) / 1996- Raulin Rosendo (Dominicano Para El Mundo) / 1998- Lil Jinx (Demo Project) / 1999- Conjunto Imagen (Entrando Al Milenio) / 2000- Diamante / 2004- ClaraSalsa (Baila Con Ella) / 2006- Los Guerreros de la Salsa (Mi Sueno) / 2008- "Fiesta" (currently under production).I thank GOD, because without Him, none of this would have been possible. He's given me Music and I want to share and spread it's wonders. Through Music we find peace, hope, joy and love. I thank my Mommy and sis Lena. They have gone along with every crazy idea I've ever come up with. Because of them, I can be me!! To my girls, thanks for your patience and always loving me. To my dear Jorge Laureano. He believed, when everyone else didn't. You've given me the chance of a life time, and for this, I am truly grateful. Phillipians 4:13
