I am here for Friends

About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorHi, my name's Joel Robinson, just your average run-of-the-mill janitor and part-time inventor marooned in space with his little family of quirky robot pals. I guess that doesn't sound very average at all, does it? Maybe I should explain.
See, I used to work as a janitor at Gizmonics Institute up until Dr. Forrester decided to shoot me out into space and make me the subject of a bizarre movie watching experiment. I'm not too mad about it, really. There could be worse things in life than being forever trapped in geosynchronous orbit, forced to watch atrocious films every week. I feel kind of sorry for Dr. F, though. He must really be hurting inside to feel the need to do something like this to another human. I've been trying to remind the 'bots that we should pray for him. But I digress.
Anyway, I used whatever spare parts I could from the ship to build some robot friends for myself up here. There's Gypsy who helps to keep the ship running smoothly, Crow and Tom Servo who keep me on my toes with their crazy pranks, and Cambot who films and stores all of my video logs here on the ship. I'm hoping to turn all of this into a pilot for a television show if I ever get back to Earth. After all, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade, right?

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Someone who can help me get off of this cockamamie satellite! Oh, and Joel Hodgson. People keep telling me I look and sound just like him. Kind of eerie.

Experiment 306: Time of the Apes

This week we watched Time of the Apes. The best way to describe it is the Japanese saw Planet of the Apes and thought "We could do better." Then they failed. Horribly.Keep Circulating the Tapes,J...

Experiment 305: Stranded in Space

So this week we watched some post Cold War 1970's anti-Communist made-for-TV shlock called "Stranded in Space." Some astronaut named Neil Stryker crashes his candy corn spaceship on a weird parallel E...

Experiment 304: Gamera vs. Barugon

"Gamera vs. Barugon" seemed to be another cookie-cutter Japanese monster flick. The human desire for wealth, power, food, warmth, companionship, or practically any necessary elements for survival are ...

Experiment 303: Pod People

Our bad movie du jour this week was "Pod People." It was a weird kind of love story/horror tale about a little kid and a mutant hellbeast of an alien that looked like the horrific combination of A.L.F...

Hey, gang. If you've read Cambot's blog lately, you'll know that our internet service isn't terribly reliable up here on the SOL. We're stuck using an air card, which would be nice and all except for ...

Experiment 302: Gamera

"Gamera" was our cinematic schlockterpiece this time. Some kind of weird love story about a giant prehistoric turtle and a chubby little shrill-voiced Japanese boy named Kenny. Or Keni. I'm not sure h...

This week we watched "Cave Dwellers," an embarrassing Fantasy epic from the 1980's (aren't they all?) featuring an entire cast of forgettable characters including the meaty Ator and his unsettlingly b...

My Robots. I Think I’ll Keep ’Em.

Well, I finally gave in and let the 'bots have their own pages here on MySpace and, wouldn't you know it, the little dickenses all included me in their heroes section. Of course, Crow made sure to try...

Science Fiction Double Feature

Ugh, I don't know what Dr. Forrester's problem is, but this week he slammed us with not one, but two awful movies! Jeepers, I guess he's taking his anger out on me and the 'bots after someone razzed h...
