About Me

Nadim Teimoori started classical saxophone at school at the age of 12, progressing quickly to Grade 6. Within a year, he discovered a keen interest in jazz, joining Doncaster Youth Jazz Association at just 13. Over the next few years this interest in jazz became a burning passion, learning improvisation and jazz theory and enjoying exchange tours to France and Germany, he moved through the various bands to the most senior award-winning Doncaster Youth Jazz Orchestra, directed by John Ellis, MBE. At the National Jazz Festival in Birmingham 2007 he received commentes on my improvised solo - you have a second tenor who can really play! Nadim is also able on soprano saxophone and is currently trying to double up on other woodwind instruments.Nadim's jazz knowledge and gigging experience is very wide, having played in Big Bands, ensembles and session work; a highlight of which was a professional gig in Manchester with the 80s band Carmel.he has been fortunate to have been surrounded with extremely talented players during his young years, receiving additional guidance and one-to-one tuition from jazz greats such as Snake Davis, Courney Pine, John Dankworth, Jean Toussaint and Mark Turner. "Playing jazz for me is, dare I say, almost a spiritual experience, as it gives me a feeling of ecstasy, happiness and excitement", says Nadim. Having few interests outside music, most nights are spent listening to heroes, transcribing and practising. I also take a keen interest in world music, which is influenced by the concept of unity in diversity from his faith roots from the Bahai Faith.Character-wise, he has high morals and is often humble, polite and well-mannered for his age and self-critical,particularly about his playing.he hopes to continue this musical journey by studying a Jazz degree. his longer term career aspirations are still developing but will certainly be in the field of jazz, whether gigging, teaching or composing!NADIM HAS BEEN ACCPETED AT THE ROYAL ACADEMY OF MUSIC IN LONDON TO STUDY JAZZ!! Panel included MARTIN SPEAKE and G E R A R D P R E S E N C E R!!!!!!!
