Troyus

It's not the start of a crisis, it's the end of an illusion.

About Me

Introspective adrenaline junkie and musician. I play with a couple groups: The Abrasives and Zombie Surf Camp .
I'm a solo pianist/composer as well, and I put that up, but I haven't gotten around to recording anything on a Piano that isn't out of tune. I'll get to it this year for sure. Seriously, I will!
Old bands... yes... I played with the Gothic Possums , but the only recordings which exist are from a party involving a lot of mixed drinks and an electronic drumset. Then there was The Bloody Hollies . I did some session work on a record with them prior to joining and that album won an SDMA music award. I used to manage a metal band a long time ago called Dr. Chunk
All the music before then was before the world wide web, so I've got no links for you. But it would be cool to put some of it up sometime.
Music aside, I am really into surfing, ancient history, the 2nd amendment, and motorcycles. I used to club race and that was a great experience but times change and motorcycle injuries never heal so I called it quits on that after a few years of cheap thrills and even cheaper trophies.
I'm kind of mixed on some other things. I'm politically active and aware, I read the papers, love The Economist , and I believe global warming, over-consumption and pollution are big problems we have to solve. The government of my country is long on profiteering and short on common sense. Something has to be done.
But on the other hand I get so sick of the bullshit and the same old lines. People talk about change and doing things different but nobody wants to slog through the mud to do it. Artistically I suppose that's why I play in several different styles, to reflect my different views on the world. But enough of that...
I live by the words, "If you do something, do it well", and I live to learn and to push my envelope in the things that I do.

My Blog

Munich, Frankfurt, and 280kph

Life in Munich, well, it's not so great. It's a dark, grey city filled with some of the most unfriendly people you'd ever want to meet. But like a diamond in the rough, there's a small clique of rocke...

Playing Rock n' Roll on the Edge of the Earth

Today we flew into a place called Tromso, on the northern tip of Norway. It's your typical college town in the arctic circle. I think the one and only actually. The sun isn't up much at all this time ...

Vera

We all made it to the airport on time in San Diego and got on the plane on time, which was pretty impressive I thought. Matt had a bit of bad luck the night before, getting his waller pickpocketed, so...

More of the Different

I'm going to start pursuing the idea of having more instruments available to me. But I do not mean more of the same. How many 6 string guitars do you need? Or 4 string basses... Well I guess I need a ...

Taking a beating and liking it.

Vacation, I guess, for some people, is supposed to be about sitting on your ass, and watching it get fatter. But for some people vacation is more about getting away from those exact things. ...

Kuala Lumpur

It's 4:30 PM and the call for Allah rings out across the landscape as I type this, going on for nearly 15 minutes. The city itself is a mixture of impressive high rise buildings and rusting shanty tow...
