Singing, writing songs, painting pictures, playing on my keyboard, dancing, writing poetry, food, comedy, reading anything, fashion, movies, making music, painting faces, acting, cutting hair, history, philosophy, my friends, taking pictures, wine, writing stories, thinking, politics, etc.
People who conceive opinions and are willing to speak of them with others... people who can calculate a 10% discount in their head... people who don't wake up with a bowl or a bottle, and who remember where they slept two nights ago... people who are capable of giving love and receiving it too... people who respect modern art... people who don't always have to find the closest parking space... people who see beauty in language, who have a vision... who can really, really laugh, even if it means laughing at themselves, who also can really, really cry, as well, even if it means crying for their own circumstance.
My friends are amazing. They are kind, honest and generous, and without them I would have very little joy and absolutely no fun. Here are a few of the people I see most often:
Micah, Peter Gabriel, Train, The Fray, Joan Osborne, Silverchair, David Gray, Annie Lennox, Coldplay, Sting, Bette Midler, Beatles, Scissor Sisters, Elton John, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Tori Amos, Feist, Sarah McLachlan, Jamie Cullum, Susan Tedeschi, Collective Soul, Tori Amos, Thomas Dolby, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Kate Bush, O.A.R.,Billy Joel, Beck, Prince, Howard Jones, Cyndi Lauper, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Downey Jr., Shiny Toy Guns, Bruce Hornsby, Marilyn Manson, Shawn Colvin, Death Cab for Cutie, Scorpions, James Taylor, Jonny Lang, Jamie Lidell, The Cure, James Morrison, Ray LaMontagne, Sara Bareilles, Incubus, to name a few.
"What Dreams May Come", "Hotel Rwanda", "The Lakehouse", "When Night is Falling", "Saved!", "Airplane", "Leaving Las Vegas", "Transamerica", "Niagra Niagra", "Erin Brockovich", "Roger and Me", "When a Man Loves a Woman"... most recently, "Sicko"!
I think "Six Feet Under" was the best series ever! I hardly ever watch tv these days but if I do, I like: "Without a Trace", "Family Guy", "Law & Order", "The Closer", "The Shield", "Cold Case", "Desperate Housewives", "Weeds" or anything besides sitcoms.
I love poetry, old like Poe or new like Irving. I love classics, like To Kill a Mockingbird, or Of Mice and Men, almost as much as self help books :) Unfortunately, lately its been product guidebooks and pop culture mags :(
My Mom, The Dalai Lama, William McNery, Michael Moore, Hillary Clinton, Bill Mahr, teachers who inspire learning despite what they're paid, celebrities who truly believe in a cause, people who can overcome each other's differences and seek common ground despite their own bigotry, people who make the very best of what they've got instead of complaining that they haven't got it, and people who put love before conflict in everything that they do, even if it means admitting they were wrong.
