He let his songs speak for themselves:reminiscent of 70s Britpop and rock but still with both feet planted firmly in the present. We're talking about Nuel, a young singer-songwriter
from Zurich with great potential an with a voice that was made for delicate pop anthems.
"Sweet Talker" is romantic, passionate, and sincere at the same time. The songs were
produced by Gigimoto mastermind Jean-Pierre von Dach; other contributors include Gigi Moto, Hendrix Ackle and Eddie Walker.
Amercilles snowstorm rages outside. It's bitter cold; the weather has a temperamental feel
and could lash out any moment. At a time like this, Nuel just does you good - whether his presence is physical or in the storm of his new debut CD "Sweet Talker". Despite it's melancholic undertones, it invites you to dream; it radiates warmth, and helps you forget everyday cares. Music as escape: a fitting description of "Sweet Talker", a fine song collection that is musically rminiscent of 70s pop gems, but can't hide from the fact that it's
a product fo modern times. It was also recorded by guitarist Jean-Pierre von Dach. He has given Nuel a transparent sound that leaves room to breath. Gigi moto herself lent her inimitabel voice too, while well-known studio musicians like keyboarder Hendrix Ackle or drummer Eddie Walker also made significant contributions. "I met Jean-pierre von Dach at a concert," remembers Nuel. "He asked me to play my songs for him. The fact that i liked them made me incredibly happy." The songs that make up "Sweet Talker" were recorded
over several studio sessions and are now ready to be enjoyed by the pop world. Nuel and von Dach took their time polishing these uncut pop diamonds. Wrell all know that good things come those who wait. They let the songs rest and mature again and again until their final form and brilliance were archived. The 29-year-old ful-blooded musician from Zurich
didn't want to pull out inividual track. From him, the album as a whole should be seen as a statement that reveals much about Nuel as a musician and a man. Though the emphasis wasn't placed on hit potential or catchiness, the songs clearly stem from this aesthetic and elegantly bridge the gap between tuneful pop music abd brash new rock numbers. But for these songs it was aslo a case of one for all and all for one. Filler is not to be found on "Sweet Talker"; it is a longplay that sounds like it was cast from one mould; convincing from start to finish. " I see "Sweet Talker" in the same vein as the great blues singers, even though I don't play any blues music," admits Nuel. " The lyrics come from my soul. They aren't made up; they are about me, my feelings, worries, and needs. " The writing process can be seen as a sort of inndr self-cleaning. Or in other words: here is someone here is someone making wonderful music that comes 100% from the heart. "Sweet Talker"
the music spaeaks for itself, sweetly and irresistibly...
