The year was 2007, the month was July, and it was late one sunny evening, at a KFC anonymous session, that three confessed addicts discovered there was more to life than succulent chicken fillets dressed with lettuce, mayonnaise, hash brown, cheese and red sauce, all inside a deliciously fresh bap.....ROCK N ROLL.
As a result Shotgun was born, with Bobbie Garrett screaming down the mic, Mark Jamison burning up the guitar and Pete Jones banging the drums. A few practises later and the band were well on their way to polishing off some of their own songs, with the aim of playing in the Larne Alive Battle Of The Bands at the end of August. But there was still one missing ingredient. Just as every Wicked Zinger Meal needs it's hot wings, we needed a bassist. Then luckily, the king of the four string Mikey Crooks showed up and helped us out.
After only 10 days, and a couple of practises as a 4 piece at Creative Studios aka. Creative Hair, Shotgun managed to win the Battle of the Bands. This was all the more amazing as it was the band's first gig and there was some awesome competition.
Following this Shotgun continued practising, writing and gigging. Mikey Crooks played with the band until early 2008 and then the search began for a full time bassist. Things kind of slowed up for Shotgun until Connah Sutherland walked into their lives. Can he play a bass or what?!
Now the line-up is looking complete and stronger than ever. New songs have been written with more in the mixer. We all absolutely love to put on a show and feel that we have entertained everywhere we have played. We hope to get even better and maybe some day we will sign the KFC endorsement we all dream of. We hope you like our music and will come and see us sometime. You won't be disappointed!
Over and out!
ps: We love you Colonel Sanders!
