INSTALLATIONS : THE QUESTION OF SHIFTINGThe notion of « shifting » in the « installation » will be seen through these works. How is it possible to connect this double contradictory action, which is illustrated by the fact of shifting and at the same time by the fact of installing ?To start with we must ask ourselves what influence do the device have on the scenes or conversely, what influence do the scenes have on the devices. In order to answer this question, the ratio of limits between town and country (an urban space and a rural space) has to be outlined.From the installation as a practice and, to start with, a very simple action which consists in shifting elements or objects of a particular space then to confront them to a new place (which is most of the time incongruous, unaccustomed and unsuitable), from there must emerge the question of the coexistence, confrontation and also the conflict between two different worlds.A practice questionning space and time: how can we invest them, transform them, take over them with simple means ? How can one print one’s stamp on them, however it is done, whatever the scale is and whatever time it takes?
