About Me

Hailing from North Carolina, Scott Board is a well-known professional vocalist/songwriter with more than 25 years of studio and live experience with various styles of rock and blues. Scott has been singing and writing since early high school with local bands and has always known his passion was music. Board fronted the international recording metal rock group, Cerebus, whose albums, “Too Late to Pray,” (1986) “Like a Banshee on the Loose,” (1987) and “Regression-Progression,” (1990) were all listed at the top of the Metal Charts in Europe. These albums were recently re-released and still are well recognized in the rock world as one of the most overlooked metal band of the time. Reviews have quoted Scott’s vocals on these albums as “astonishing” and “amazing” and the album, Too Late to Pray as "immaculate US Metal majesty.” After leaving “Cerebus,” Scott gained major label interests with the rock band, “Dimage” which toured the southeast opening for bands such as Lynyrd Synyrd, Jackyl, Trixter and Survivor to name a few. Scott has also shared the stage over the years with bands such as Queensryche, Blue Oyster Cult, Krokus, Bullet Boys and Bad Company. Board has contributed to numerous commercial recordings and various demo sessions across the United States.
Scott recently fronted the Bad Company Tribute, “Fire & Water” which toured the Southeastern United States. Scott's latest endeavor's include an all orginal project, "No Love Lost" and a classic rock tribute band, BIGWIG. Scott has a very diverse melodic rock vocal style and an incredible vocal aptitude reminiscent of David Coverdale, Paul Rodgers, Robert Plant and Ronnie James Dio. Board delivers each song with the range and power of the hard rock vocalists with a bluesy soulfulness not found in a lot of the music today. Scott will leave you in awe!

DIMAGE CD OVERVIEW:
North Carolina was never thought of as the “hot bed” of melodic hard rock in the late 80’s and early 90’s. But looking back to 1991 DIMAGE was an energetic, captivating and dynamic metal/hard rock act that never truly got it’s due. Just as the band was building up steam in the Southeast opening for such acts like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Survivor, Trixter, Nantucket and Jackyl the hard rock scene was ultimately destroyed by the rise of “grunge.” So until now DIMAGE’s recorded works have remained buried away. It Takes Time: 1991-1993 is the first time their original 6 track demo is being unearthed. We have also included bonus tracks from all other demos DIMAGE recorded during their career. If you are a fan of QUEENSRYCHE, WHITESNAKE, FIREHOUSE and DOKKEN you will love this gem from North Carolina’s hard rock past. DIMAGE featured vocalist, Scott Board, of cult metal band CEREBUS.

Cerebus - Too Late to Pray

Well, here is a re-release that all lovers of the ’obscure’ 80s US Metal scene will be interested in. Greece’s premier Metal label Sonic Age Records just issued a whole set of classic 80s Metal gems with the ample quintet of Cerebus to start with.
Cerebus took shape in the late 70s as the brainchild of - basically - bassist Eric Burgess. After solidifying their sound via playing classic Rock/Metal covers and opening up in concerts of renowned - at that time - acts such as Blue Oyster Cult and Foghat, it was time to move on to the next level. A participation in the late 1985 "Satan’s Revenge" compilation was the appetizer, soon to be followed by a two-record deal with the New Renaissance label. It was the time for the band’s debut album to hit the stores. And what a blast it was!
"Too Late To Pray" - offered here for review - is the proper album proving the previous paragraph’s first sentence to be 100% true. Clearly influenced by the Iron Maiden typhoon of that time, but also dealing with the wider thesaurus of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal sound span, this legendary album features eight songs of immaculate US Metal majesty. Sharp guitar riffs, roaring rhythm section and the astonishing vocals of Scott Board
- all followed by a primordial production - sum it up to a set of amazing headbanging rhythm tracks; no tune would be of higher level, still the supremacy of "Taking Your Chances" (the most NWOBHM song of the album), the wandering of "Distant Eyes" & "Longing For Home" and the straightforwardness of "Rock The House Down" are some personal favorites. As an extra hint: Cerebus - in my opinion - are mistakenly considered as a Speed-to-Thrash Metal act; I’d rather place them in the field of British-influenced US Metal ’mode’. The vocals and the general approach of the band reminds me of ’old’ Riot (Board’s ’vibe’ brings Rhett Forrester to mind) plus the ’obscure’ Canadian legends Black Knight. Not to forget, again, the ’ghost’ of 1982-1984 Iron Maiden is all around here...
Apart from the certain musical value of this release, a total of eight bonus tracks serve as the perfect extra gift. Some of them are from the rare-as-hell 1987 "Banshee On The Loose" EP with the rest being tunes that never saw the light of day so far; this is a truly nice addition to the dissent ’main dish’. For the lover of 80s Heavy Metal music, this is an essential purchase.
