Bio: BO GOD
(Oakland, California)
There are more independent hip hop albums released in California's Bay Area per year then any other region in the country. A news paper editor for the Oakland tribune once wrote "The highest profiting businesses in Oaklands' economy are drug trafficking and the pandering of prostitution. The inner city streets of California are infested with drugs, crime and violence and the average young black male will be dead or in prison by the tender age of 21.
In a dominion where street politics govern and underworld economics pay he moves amongst the shadows utterly disenfranchised by an American society who has branded him as a felon. "To rise above poverty one must first comprehend the fact that poverty is merely a condition of living" says California native "Bo God" (Growth Over Death). With eyes sharp enough to pierce the soul and a voice as demanding as a dictator this Bay Area bred bombshell is sure to shock the world of hip- hop. In an era where materialism dominates Bo God is some what of a blessing to listeners as he sticks to the traditional sense of over coming the harsh "realities" of every day living and surviving the inner city. If it wasn't for his original style and unique delivery one might eaisly mistake Bo God for an industry veteran while listening to his music. Contrary to fellow Oakland rappers and Bay Area artist Bo God has more of a universal sound while most Bay Area rappers participate in the "Hyphy" movement. Although a self proclaimed "hyphy boy" Bo God represents more of a West Coast movement than just a Bay Area movement and supports the Hyphy movement to the fullest.
Bo God has been polishing his lyricist and producer craft as early as his pre-teens. At the age of 13 he wrote his first "16" inspired by Spice 1's "Welcome to the Ghetto" and recorded the work using two tape recorders in his "EL Pueblo" housing project flat located in Pittsburg CA where he spent most of his eairly child hood before moving to nearby Oakland. Since then he has been labeled by the streets as one of the most promising un-signed artist on the planet. When asked why he took so long to pursue a music career Bo God swings his dredlocks to the back and answers " don't nothin come to a sleeper but a dream". When asked what made him pursue his dream now he states "Cause now I'm ready. It ain't no dream no more. It's just a matter of going to get what's already mine". Reviewing Bo God's independant, un-released debut album entittled "Game Infested" one would definitely agree that this guy could become one of the "greats" as he states in the joint entittled "Children of the Ghetto" /"City where the young die/where we come up traumatized/disenfranchised in the system ghetto prisoners rise/Our children been fed lies/the hatred and the genocide/paints a perfect picture how poverty makes you feel inside"!.
Bo God creates timeless music that fans will listen to for years to come. So hip hop junkies world wide prepare your self for that soul clenching, hair rising, heartfelt ghetto music that you grew up to. Bo God is a product of the West Coast pavement and the West Coast is definitely here to stay!
