The Naked Angels Theatre Company Presents: TUESDAYS@9
Tuesdays@9 is the cornerstone of our writers' programs. This free weekly forum, led by Creative Directors Joe Danisi and Stephanie Cannon in New York and Larry Clarke and Jon Leahy in Los Angeles, brings writers, actors, directors and producers together to participate in cold readings of scenes, short plays and fiction, all fresh from the printer. The premise of Tuesdays@9 is quite simple: writers have their new text read aloud by professional actors in a public forum. A perfect example of how this program serves artists is Kenneth Lonergan's Academy Award-nominated film You Can Count On Me. Kenneth brought many of his scenes to Tuesdays@9, some of which were refined and incorporated into the acclaimed film. In addition, several works of fiction and non-fiction have also emerged from the series, including Time On Fire by Evan Handler, Pluto Animal Lover by Lauren Stover and Why I'm Like This, by Cynthia Kaplan. Each night also features a musical guest, hand-picked by the creative directors from New York and Los Angeles' thriving music communities.
