Juju Child is the maestro who jazzes up a blend of gospel, African soul and sophisticated blues.Born in New Orleans and raised in Mississippi, Juju Child multi-talented singer, composer and producer, grew up listening to power soul artists like James Brown, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye, which he cites as major influences. As role models he learned from these artists, the importance of presenting songs that would stand the test of time. Through them he learned the importance of recording songs that are honest, emotional and personally revealing.His commitment to continually grow as an artist and to spiritually connect with the audience, gives Juju Child an advantage. He is an original. Juju’s approach is not to simply follow the latest trends but to go where others fear to tread. The goal is to always show major love the audience.In his upcoming interview in Blues Magazine, Juju talks about his approach to performing and song writing. He explains that in addition to being somewhat original and authentic, one needs to have a good flow and love for melody and a particular sound, which compliments the subject of the song.Juju Child has been recording and performing the past few years in Europe and will be releasing his third CD “The Soul Of ZYDEJU” in late spring 2009. Juju and his band Hypnotic Roots have performed throughout Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. As an artist Juju Child has appeared on French TV with such artist as Eddie Mitchell, Axel Red and others and in the award winning film “Pas Sur Ma Bouche” starring Pierre Arditi. He has also worked in opening acts for such artist as The Wailers, Steel Pulse, Herbie Hancock, The Neville Brothers and others.
