About Me

Laughing Coyote Studio is a recording facility nestled on five acres among the vineyards and redwood trees of Mendocino County, just two hours north of San Francisco. It is the sister music studio arm with Ukiah Music Center. Our four-room complex offers an outstanding environment for all types of recording -- a state-of-the-art studio in a relaxed, down-home setting.
The Main Room has a 14-foot ceiling and floating oak floors. We provide a superbly maintained Yamaha C-7 Grand Piano and a large selection of amp and drum options. The 400 square foot Control Room boasts a Yamaha DM1000 digital console, as well as a TAC Scorpion 32 input analog console. We're equipped with Pro Tools, Logic, and Class A analog outboard gear, and Genelec 1031A monitors. The room has a sand-filled oak floor and has been carefully treated with Alaskan Cedar, Sonex and Clear Heart Redwood.
The Control Room offers an acoustically warm listening environment combined with Digital Audio Workstation versatility and Class A processing. We are well equipped for MIDI production and sound design, and boast one of the largest collections of sound effects (750,000+) and royalty-free music libraries (1000's) in Northern California. The Control Room has a spacious referencing environment, using Cardas cable for recording and monitoring and an all-Mogami signal path. We also have a deep selection of vintage, tube and current pro microphone selections.
The rural location of LCS offers abundant opportunities for exploring the spectacular beauty of Mendocino County. Activities include boating on nearby lakes, walks in old growth redwood forests, tasting trips to local wineries and the peace and quiet of country life. We can arrange local accommodations at area hot springs, bed and breakfast inns or economy motels.
