Ginger Fig

About Me

" Take one oversized cauldron. Mix a pinch of The Damned, a smidgen of the Misfits, a pound of Type O Negative and a healthy portion of Natalie Merchant. Then, stir it up as Black Sabbath howls from the stereo." --- The Battle Creek Enquirer, 2005
Incorporating the best of rock, goth, metal & punk with pop sensibility, Ginger Fig creates a unique blend of high octane, hard rock music. This sound, combined with their well-known, crushing live performances, has earned Ginger Fig a reputation as one of Western Michigan's best original hard rock groups.
Led by vocalist / lyricist Connie Meines, Ginger Fig packs a powerful live punch with her charismatic, take-no-prisoners performance. Known for her tongue-in-cheek, yet in-your-face style of writing, Connie sends the listener through a lyrical voyage ranging from the sarcastic, to the empowered, to the personal.
Catchy riffs, rocking melodies and crushing rhthyms define the contribution of Ginger Fig's primary song writer Ryan Cunningham as track after track continue to keep the audience's blood flowing, feet dancing and fists pumping. Ryan's extensive knowledge in a variety of guitar styles shines though in his compositions & melodies.
Founding member Jason Chester continues to lay down a solid low end with his bass guitar as he has since the band’s inception in 2002. Known for his perseverance he has become the foundation for which Ginger Fig has been built.
Since joining the band in 2003, drummer Paul Ward has helped to redefine and solidify the group. Paul uses his extensive history as a drummer, guitarist, songwriter, producer & marketing designer to provide direction for the band as they continue to wage their scorched earth musical war on the midwest and beyond.
2005 marks the release of Ginger Fig's third album, "Take the Money...Leave the Girl", which ups the ante for the band musically & professionally. Exploring the heavier side of music and a slightly more progressive approach, the band has ramped up their efforts 10 fold as they bring their unique music to the masses. Following the extrordinary success of their debut "Good Morning" (which was rated the 3rd best regional release of 2003 by Music Revue Magazine) and it's successful 50+ show regional support tour, Ginger Fig intends to move from one of Western Michigan's top original hard rock acts to a midwestern regional mainstay.
