Melbourne based DJ Mr Stoj began his musical career in 2002 whilst living in London. He purchased a new set of turntables and mixer and that was the start of a life long dream. From this point, his story reads like a classic DJ tale.
Forward to 2003. Mr Stoj created and formed Mecca @ The Public Office. The party which eventually spanned a successful three years, went on to showcase some of best house music played Australia’s big name DJs, plus live performances by vocalist Miss P who has gone on to become a success as part of the Dirty Laundry outfit.
Special theme nights such as Boogie Knights, Showgirls and Shysters, School Disco, Pastel Palace and The Superstars party provided Melbourne’s with some of the wildest theme nights that Mecca delivered to a packed room. Mecca also teamed up with the Midsumma festivities and held two successful boat cruises.
After years of spreading House music to the masses it was inevitable that the next step was to radio where he held a short stint at Kiss FM’s Saturday Shuffle show from 2 to 4 Saturday afternoons.
Though Mr Stoj’s true love lies with making people smile on the dancefloor, therefore he has honed his skills on his one true love.
Since the halcyon days of Mecca, Mr Stoj has made his mark by playing what he knows best, Uplifting pumping house. From rolling baselines to organic percussion, with amazing vocals the choices he makes to move the floor have earned him a reputation as a mover and shaker. This sound and style is what brought Mr Stoj to GOSSIP at the Love Machine’s dancefloor where he was asked to be spin the peak session set from 11pm to 2am alongside other DJ residents Peter Mona Mac and Frisky. The club has gone from strength to strength, giving Melbournian party goers a hedonistic night that hasn’t been seen since the Freakazoid days.
Since his Love Machine premier, Mr Stoj has risen rapidly though the ranks, becoming a permanent DJ resident as well as playing at other large events such as Rawhide, Hedonistic, Purr, Betterdays, Liveoneday, LoveGaze (Sydney).
With over seven years in the business, Mr Stoj has developed a following that is diverse, large, loyal, and consisting of people who not only know good music when they hear it, but how music should be played to sound seriously good.
