Mixed Chamber Choir “Cantantes” from Belgrade was founded in year 2003. The group of amateur singers have gathered together with Miss Vesna Souc conductor and Professor at the University of Arts, Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade and Mr. Ilija Smiljanic general manager, and laid foundation of the choir. Mixed Chamber Choir “Cantantes” mostly consists of Belgrade University students and the group of amateurs of different professions. Repertoire of the choir contains spiritual music, composed by Serbian and Russian composers, Armenian and Georgian church, classical music pieces as well as pieces of Serbian traditional music and contemporary composers of world music. Since its foundation, choir held many concerts in Serbia and abroad. To mention: performing at the festival "XXXIX Days of Mokranjac" 2004 in Negotin, Serbia; festival "Choirs among frescoes" in Belgrade, Serbiain 2004, 2005 and 2006; traditional concerts "Christmas in Russian house", in Belgrade, in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007; Atrium of the National Museum in Belgrade and the Student’s Cultural Center concerts in 2005; In 2006 besides various appearances on cultural and other manifestations in Belgrade, "Cantantes" gave a concert in Sombor, in its beautiful Carmelite Church in the center of the town. During the years, Chamber Choir “Cantantes” had great colaboration with “Belgrade Music Theatre Terazije”, “Belgrade Philharmonic Orchersta”, “Belgrade Opera Orcherstra” and Opera’s soloists and instrumentalists. Outside Serbia, Cantantes had large number concerts and participated in various festivals: 42. International festival of sacral music ‘’Virgo Lauretana’’, Loreto 2004, Italy; Concerts in Orthodox church in Ljubljana 2004, Slovenia; 32. International choir meeting of polyphonic music "Citta di Fano" Fano 2005, Italy; 29. International festival of sacred and folk music in St. Andreas church Pescara 2005, Italy; 3. International festival "Christmas holiday in Sankt Petersburg" Sankt Petersburg 2006, Russian federation; 53. International Festival of habaneras and polyphonic music Torrevieja 2007, Spain; (Second prize in Habanera category on 53. International Festival of Habaneras and Polyphonic Music Torrevieja 2007, and “José Hodar Talavera” Prize for the best conductor - Svetlana Krstic) As a part of 2007 tour, Chamber Choir “Cantantes” had succersful concerts in Lisbon, Barcelona, Madrid and Girona. Chamber Choir "Cantantes" is successfully conducted by Miss Svetlana Krstic.
