Peekaboo Burlesque

.. Peek*A*Boo Burlesque got it's start in 2002 playing go-go backup to the punkrock bands of the San Francisco East Bay and performing on the bartops of Oakland drinkeries. In 2003, then bellydance partners Mary Good and Kerri Naslund witnessed "Kitty Kitty Bang Bang" at the opening for "Garage Magazine". It was love at first sight, and they girls knew they had found their calling. Since then, they have transformed from edgey Suicide Girls, into the slapstick, cabaret, vaudevillian, tassel twirling wascally wabbits that you all know and love. Peek*A*Boo takes inspiration (takes it AND RUNS) from the likes of Bugs Bunny, Buster Keaton, Mae West, Charlie Chaplin, Fred and Ginger, Gene Kelly, Esther Williams, The WauWau Sisters, Harold Lloyd, and the list goes on! Their style combines nouveau burlesque with comedic theatricality, the use of stock characters (Zombie and Butcher!!), and ridiculous props (you would never guess how hard it was to find an inflatable shark.). The soundtrack to Peek*A*Boo's performances often include mash-ups of old favorites ("My friend the witchdoctor" and "Goin' to the chapel", or "Anchors Aweigh" meets "Jaws"), no song is safe and iTunes is a free for all!
