UIC Radio Chicago

Welcome to the Official MySpace page of the UIC Radio Chicago!!! UIC Radio is a student run radio station located in the heart of Chicago and has been in existence now for about 8 years. It is our mission to provide our listeners with an eclectic mixture of programming that is both entertaining and educational. Although we no longer have an FM signal, we do broadcast a high quality audio stream online, 24/7, at our official website WWW.UICRADIO.ORG as well as on campus housing TV channel 4.
UIC Radio's reputation for being THE leading college radio station is well deserved. For the last three years the UIC Radio team, led by Program Director DJ MoonDawg, has promoted, programmed, and developed the station in a way that hasn't been done before. From clever marketing/promotions campaigns to guest appearances by Grammy-Award winning artists at the station, UIC Radio has been at the forefront of the "rise of college radio" in the Chicago market.
While record sales and commercial radio listenership continues on a downward trend, UIC Radio has capitalized on the opportunities to capture new listeners and break new artists! UIC Radio realized that what people really wanted from a radio station was relevant content beyond station ID's, advertisements, and the same 15 songs in heavy rotation. The solution we found, which has worked great for thus far, was to allow the personalities more freedom to program their own shows. Now you can expect more on-air dialogue, fresh new music, and less interruptions for all of our shows!
Outside of the radio studio, UIC Radio maintains a heavy presence on campus and in the surrounding community with *live* remote broadcasts! We make it a point to reach our listeners beyond the confines of the station, and at this point, it has been another complete success!
The hard work put in by the members of the UIC Radio team was finally recognized in January 2008 during the 27th Annual Chicago Music Awards show. For the first time in UIC Radio's history, it was nominated for "Best College Radio Station". Although UIC Radio did not walk away with the award, it was still a blessing to be acknowledged in the categories first year of existence as well as being the only non-FM station nominated.
