The Power of Purity is designed to help men honor God through sexual purity. There's no doubt about it; we have a real challenge on our hands when it comes to our sexuality. God's holy word makes it crystal clear that we are called to be holy and pure men, yet we live in a society that bombards us daily with an endless parade of sexual temptation. You know what I'm talking about, don't you? Pornography, the Internet, suggestive television shows, movies, gay bishops in the church, seductive advertising, girls kissing girls on national television. The list could go on and on. In the day of Moses the people erected a giant golden calf and then bowed down to worship their false god. In our day, it's as if we have erected (no pun intended) a giant golden penis, and our entire society is bowing down in worship. Does God really expect us to remain pure, on the inside and the outside, while living in such an environment? Could you throw a white glove in the middle of a mud puddle and then expect the glove to remain white and pure? It almost seems unfair, and maybe a little crazy, but that's exactly what God expects us to do!As if all of that doesn't make it tough enough on us, to add insult to injury is the reality of our individual personal stories. As young men, most of us were not given the instruction or tools necessary to equip us to honor God with our sexuality. On the contrary, the sexual foundation that was laid in most of our lives was provided through a host of impure and ungodly influences. For many of us, our innocence was quickly lost to the impurity of pornography and immorality. Like starting a campfire with gasoline, the earliest stirrings of our sexuality were couched in the explosive influences of uncleanness, impurity and lust. For many, the significant male role models in our lives did not provide a godly example of what it means to be a man, or how a godly man relates properly to women. These, along with many other unholy influences in our lives, served to establish within our hearts a kind of "bent" toward sexual sin, and as a result we have since struggled deeply in our attempt to honor God with our sexuality. No wonder so many good men find it so difficult to overcome sexual temptation. Not only do we live in a decadent and immoral society that provides endless temptation and opportunity to sin, but the underpinnings of our personal morality and sexuality are shaky at best.To add even further insult to injury is the conspicuous level of silence provided this subject by the Church. Despite the fact that sex is such a huge issue for most men, and represents one of the most common and deepest struggles for many Christian men, this topic remains, by and large, taboo in the Christian community. How sad! Do we really believe this issue will somehow just go away if we simply avoid it? Are we naive enough to think our men are doing alright and don't need help, encouragement and guidance in this area? Where will our men find the answers and strength they need to honor God with their sexuality if they don't find it in the Church? Our heart and hope is that this ministry can serve as a resource that will help men and Churches move this important topic from the shadows where it currently lurks into the light of honesty and truth.The good news is that sexual purity is really possible. When God calls us to do or be something, He also provides the enabling that makes such a calling possible. The mystery of the gospel is not a religious fairy tale that sounds nice in the confines of stained glass windows, but is powerless to deliver in the reality of life. This thing either works or it doesn't. If it doesn't really work I say we should pitch the whole God thing and eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die. But if it does work, and I believe with all my heart it really does, then we should seek God and push farther into God than we ever have before. I promise you that God wants to do something amazing and radical in your life. He wants to do something for you that you could never do for yourself. He has the power to help you and to change you. I know, because that's exactly what He did for me. I literally almost lost my life because of my wounded sexuality, but as you'll see when you read my story, He rescued and redeemed me, and He can do the same for you.I'll give you a fair warning. This website is not for the faint of heart. If you have already been offended by the thoughts shared above, and if you think it is inappropriate for such discussion to take place within the community of faith, you better turn around and get out right now. We have done our best to deal with this delicate topic in a way that is completely honest and transparent, yet honoring to God. If you are ready, you are invited to check it out.
