Belle Reve

About Me

For the members of Belle Reve, the circumstances couldn't have been better. When it materialized, they all knew that it was something worth the effort. Matt and Kelly were living in Northern California in 2004. Matt broke his leg and spent three months in bed writing music. He and Kelly, thinking of their return to Oklahoma, thought of starting another band, and naturally started wondering who it might consist of. Colin had attended music school with Matt and had been friends with the couple for a few years. He was busy finishing music school in Oklahoma as well as writing music and making plans to start a new band. When Kelly and Matt moved back to Oklahoma in Feb. 2005, they took Colin out to see if he was interested. Little did they know he wanted to know the same of them. So, the collaboration began as a trio. Meanwhile, Chris had spent the past few years writing songs, playing in multiple bands, and getting a home studio togther. Matt and Kelly had met Chris at a show of his, through a mutual friend, and were immediatley impressed with the rare blend of technical and tasteful playing. When the trio realized that they needed something more, they turned to Chris and the sound exploded overnight. Chris had obviously been looking for such an outlet. Enter: Kevin, who Matt and Kelly had known in high school, and had since grown to become quite good friends. Now, with college out of the way, he found himself wanting to get back on the drums. Matt called him up out of the blue, to feel him out on the matter, and Kevin responded enthusiastically. The quintet now finds themselves with more potential than any of them have known before. All of the members agree that the sound is evolving in a great direction, and have only high hopes for the future of the band.
