Mareike Voss started singing when she was four years old and soon began performing with various choirs and solo at different locations in Berlin (among others the Philharmonie and the Berlin Dom). At the age of fifteen Mareike was taught vocal technique by Regina Schudel and as a result, was chosen to play the main character (Audrey) in the musical "Little Shop Of Horrors". Turning her back on her home country, she studied for one year in the US, getting involved in bands, choirs, voice and trombone lessons. The decision to become absorbed in Jazz was taken shortly before her graduation, and Mareike found guidance in a preparatory class for Conservatory being taught by Esther Kaiser, Daniel Mattar and Tim Sund. She also had the chance to learn a lot about Jazz/singing at different Workshops in Prague, Berlin and Eisenstadt (AU). At this moment Mareike is studying Jazz/Pop voice and trombone at the Conservatory Arnhem (NL). She is very happy to be part of a couple of great bands: Yesterday Fleamarket (violin, voc, tb, dr), playing self-written music in an alternative, mixed stile, the Vocadillas, six girls singing close-harmony songs in different stiles, and the Psychedelic Soul Orchestra (a tribute to Minnie Riperton), which performed in the last half year at the Stijger Theater, Nijmegen (NL), the main stage from Jazz in Duketown, Den Bosch (NL), the Beurs Van Berlage, Amsterdam and the North Sea Jazz Festival, Rotterdam (NL). Mareike likes to sing in a lot of different stiles, but feels home most in the Jazz/Pop idiom and her own music.
