I am Val Banks. I am an 18 year old kid learning how to grow up real fast. My music tells my story. The lyrics weigh heavily on top of melodic riffs.
I started playing music when I was 5, taking piano lessons. Piano was short-lived. I moved onto the Flute in 4th grade until 8th grade. For my 8th gradegraduation gift, my parents got me a Bass Guitar. Learning to play the bass gave me a different perspective on music; I listened closer and realized how intricate music really is.
So I stole my brother's acoustic guitar and started shredding. And by shredding I mean plucking the strings hoping for delightful sounds to fill the room, which by the way didn't happen. For the past 5 years I have sat in my room and played my guitar everyday, pushing myself to write more and more.
My goal as a musician is to write about every part of myself as accurately as possible. I want to share myself with the world. I want my music to make someone else feel as good as my favorite music makes me feel.
I am learning about life, love, and what true happiness is. I log my journey in my songs. They are more personal than my diary. I'm throwing myself out there and I can't wait to see what the world thinks. I am not afraid to fail, because that is entirely relative to the perspective. I will not fail if I write my songs the way the were meant to be written, even if I do not gain success in the music industry. So here I am, songs and all, to share with you my strange perspective on growing up =)
