Peoples Republic of Mercia are an alternative blues/rock'n'roll combo from the Second City that have been together since 2004. PRoM have so far produced 2 albums, "Dadpunk" (2005), and "Telecastered" (2007). There have also been 3 singles ,"Cult Of Celebrity" which came out in 2005 on the Chromium Records label, 2006's "Warts'n'All", a self produced effort by the band, and last years "The Guard" released on the bands own Offadiscs label..Very much a live band, PRoM have progressed from minor local venues to supporting major acts at some of the best music clubs in the Midlands (Cox's Yard, The Robin 2, The Roadhouse, The Marrs Barr, The Little Civic, The Artrix Theatre, Lichfield Guildhall, Tamworth Assembly Rooms, The Running Horse, The Diamond, and The Mill), there's also been London gigs, most recently supporting Eddie and the Hot Rods at The Half Moon in Putney, and a trip to the home of pub rock, Southend, again as support to The Rods. The Last couple of years has also seen PRoM gig with The Pirates, The Groundhogs, Man, Edgar Broughton, Dr Feelgood, The Vibrators, Dumpys Rusty Nuts, Goldblade,and Wilko Johnson. To date PRoM have supported both The Hot Rods and Wilko on 7 occasions.In 2009 PRoM will be recording a new album to be released on Offadiscs which will include live favourites "Girl On The Train", White Man Van", and "Stir Crazy" as well as a couple of the band's favourite covers, expect to see the Edgar Broughton classic "Call Me A Liar" get it's first studio airing.
