Young Millz son of Bruce & Kathryn McLaren formally known as Terrance Jermaine McLaren, was born on August 19th, 1987 in North Philadelphia. Young Millz at a very young age was surrounded by drug-use, violence and abuse. Young Millz was also brought into this world with a twin sister Tiera McLaren who would pass-away at a young age. Young Millz would lose his father when he was murdered and his mother in the winter of 2007 to an ongoing sickness. Currently Young Millz is currently pursuing his musical dreams to the fullest.
Some of Young Millz's influences include his favorite rap artist Cassidy; other artist's that have provided strong influence include; Notorious B.I.G., 2pac Shakur, J.R. Writer, Jay-Z, Young Gunz, Juelz Santana, and last but not least freestyle legends: Reed Dollaz and Bricks. By listening to these artists growing up Young Millz went on to say that, "Being able to listen to these artists, gave a whole new meaning to a "word" itself. Having a strong vocabulary could be that single factor that determines if you are the next hip-hop great, or if you are the next "One-Hit Wonder". Listening to how some of these artists use words to express themselves and being able to form my own technique/style allowed me to become the artist I am today." said Millz. "It is important to understand where you came from, but more importantly where you can go. The artists that have paved the way for young black males such as myself, deserve the utmost respect for the foundation they have laid and revival of hip-hop music.
Young Millz also went on to say, " While I have been met with a lot of challenges throughout life, seeing the deaths of close family members and friends, and the struggle to maintain life itself, I still feel blessed to be in the position I am in today. I always fall back on thinking there is always somebody worse off then myself. God has blessed me with lyrical talents and a surrounding supporting cast that has allowed me to keep a positive outlook on life and the will to reach my goals. My brother Oscar who is very similar to me in numerous ways, has always had an encouraging word for me, and in that has allowed me to look past some of the hardships we face each day and to the light at the end of the tunnel. I can say going through what I have, music keeps me alive. Being able to express one's self through music is a blessing and something that I will continue to partake in until I am down to my last breath."
Young Millz is currently working solo on his Summer 2009 mixtape which is named AIRSHOW VOL.1. He says AIRSHOW will be his summer series he will release each summer. He released his 2006 mixtape with another local rap artist Bealeo (R.I.P.) called Back 2 Basics, which was a great success in his local city of Erie, Pennsylvania but also on the East Coast.
