Band Members: Take Two Tv & Film recently had the honor of spending time with recording sensation "Omen" on the film set of their network Tv hit, "Who's Next Door". Omen took time to play seven tracks from his hit CD, "After the Pain", for the gathering of journalists. While the assembled crowd boogied, Omen and his Manager and CEO of R.O.I. Records, Derek Hunley introduced, and talked about the tracks one-by-one. As the actors and actresses danced, it became obvious that not only were the beats minded boggling, but the lyrical content of Omens music was a tour-de-force. Clearly, this is a star on the rise. The CD has gained quick acceptance in the Phoenix, and West coast market, where one cannot enter a hot spot in the area without hearing Omens trademark vocals as the dance floor heats up.
As a native of Petersburg VA, OMEN WOLFGANG 9000 grew up in a close-knit family atmosphere. With 17 kids and their Mother all living in the same housing projects, there was plenty to do. Omen immediately fell in love with the world of soul.
Deciding her son had the talent to build a better life for her family; Wolfie's mother soon joined the Omen traveling band. This allowed O.W. to travel with his inner circle, and see the world. By the age of 16, Wolfie settled in CA, and began to get serious inquiries about his musical talents. At the young age of 17, Omen signed his first contract with Looney Bin records, located in the music mecca of Southern CA. As management sought to gain more and more control over the artist, Wolfie decided it was best to take his creative spark to the boom town of Phoenix, Arizona.
While living with his brother in Arizona, O.W. has pioneered the rap group MAD LAD, consisting of himself and label mate RISE 1. His brother Tio has also recently joined the group. Along with his skills, Tio also brought along with him the media exposure needed to finance the group’s first venture; the mega-hit, “After the Pain". The project was independently released on the AZ. underground scene. Of major significance, the release was rated 1 consignment ever by SAM GOODY & MUSIC LAND reps throughout southern AZ. The success of this album was the birth R.O.I. INC.

To fully understand where this budding musical talent has his head planted, please take note of his quote to live life by,
“All glory is to GOD. I've always considered myself to be ahead of the game. With a major label backing me, I figure I can let the rest of the world catch up. You got to press PLATINUM, to go PLATINUM."
“Every success story begins with a struggle. A resistance result in strength and strength becomes power. This is who I am, a success story’. Get at me

LA: I read that quote by you from your bio; (shown above) you seem like a real spiritual person. Your awareness for what is important in
life is what is going to help you succeed. Have you always been that way?
Omen: I feel, I do have a special purpose on this earth. Just two months ago, on December 10th of 2006 I woke up in the hospital. My record label
was actually a little stressed out. They thought the accident might affect my work or ability to get my job done and produce a banging album.
LA: What happened Omen?
Omen: I was doing a lot of studio work the night before and I had a really late session. I was working 18 hours straight on my music. When I left to go
home, it was 6 in the morning! On my way home, I had a diabetic episode. My sugar level dropped down to 33. I blacked out at the wheel. I smacked
right into the center concrete divider. Next thing I knew, I woke up in the hospital with my wife by my side. I broke my shoulder, my hip, and my
right wrist. I got surgery and now I have pins and needles in my shoulder. My wrist was all patched up. But, I was out of commission for awhile. I
was in the hospital from the 10th to the 31st of December. I didn’t spend the holidays at home; but I was glad to be home by the new year. I went
through some physical therapy to get my motion back.
Editor’s Note: See pictures of Omen after his accident on page
LA: I’m amazed about how quickly you got back to work!
Omen: Yeah, I am still healing as we speak. I am still here by the grace of God. I am serious about what I’m doing and I know for a fact that God has a
plan for me. That’s why he kept me here so I can spread his Glory through
music. The drive that I have for what I’m doing and the passion I have is serious. R.O.I. [Omen’s record label] was concerned mainly about my
health before anything. So now, we’re just picking up right where we left off! Since God is controlling it all, I knew for a fact the LP’s weren’t going to be held back. My spirit never felt like how my body was. My body was broken
down, but my spirit was still strong. As soon as I got back home I went right back in the studio and wrapped up the album! Thank God I didn’t
break anything near my mouth, I wasn’t like Kanye West!
LA: You record label, R.O.I. Records has really supported you all the way. For those of you that don’t know, that is Return On Investment and I
know we all like the sound of that! Omen, when you think of R.O.I. Records and how business is conducted, what comes to mind?
Omen: Our relationship is really good. I can put forth my ideas, and they always consider them. They listen to how I am feeling about things since
I am the artist. Anything that I put out through R.O.I. Records has to represent me so they give me all of that freedom as an artist.
LA: Yeah, I am digging your sound! You are defi nitely an artist with many sides to you! All of the styles I heard from you are unique and
pretty banging. You’re doing things that not many people are doing. You’re giving people options when it comes to music. It sounds like you have
that ear for music and something else that the industry needs- individuality but at the same time your topics are relatable. You grew up in a musical
family, what was that like for you?
Omen: I am a military brat. My mother, she was in the military, so we moved around quite a bit. I’ve been all across the globe, overseas. She was
a hard worker; she had three hard head boys that she had to raise and she wanted to make sure that we had things that we needed, so she joined the
ARMY. From there we moved around a lot from Virginia, to Arizona to Germany and California. I live in Texas right now. I’ve been out here for
three years now.
LA: How are you vibing with Texas?
Omen: Oh it’s off the chain, you know! Texas has a whole lot going on! Texas has their own music coming in and out but they are defi nitely
not scared to open up their arms to a different style, as long as it good. If you have something that’s impressionable, they’ll mess with you. For
example, take the Houston scene. You can go platinum in Houston alone. You wouldn’t even have to step out of that city. They don’t always
have support for their home grown talent but, for me coming in from another place and stepping into their scene, I thought that I might meet some
haters. Or that it was going to be harder for me. That wasn’t the case at all; they embraced me.
LA: Game recognizes game! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, artists that get together and network and support each other, those are the ones
that make it to the top faster. I did want to talk to you about your name and if you could explain to the people where it came from.
Omen: As you know, my name is Omen Wolfgang. What Omen means, an omen is a sign or a warning of things to come. So lookout, because here I come! A lot of people think that omens have something to do with the devil
because of the movie. It’s not that though, it’s just a warning to watch out; something big is about to happen. I got Wolfgang because of Wolfgang
Am a deus Mozart. He was a musical genius. He was so creative and had his own style. He wasn’t afraid to put his style out there. He had a lot of
fun with that.
LA: That is very interesting and creative. If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Omen: If I could describe Omen Wolfgang in three words, I would say I am excited, approachable, and passionate. If I were to describe my music three
words I would say banging, new and original.
LA: Your music is original, but I know a lot of people can dig it! It’s got a good sound!
Omen: I appreciate that.
LA: You’ve accomplished a lot professionally and musically at such an early age. Something I feel is pretty interesting is that you have a verse
on the University of Arizona’s Victory Song. How did you become involved in that project?
Omen: I wrote my verse and the hook. There were three of us: myself, another cat named Opposite and Swindoe. We were in Tucson at the time,
and Swindoe’s studio, Block Boy Entertainment, called us to the studio. The Wildcats had just won their game and we made this song for them.
LA: Would you like to give some shout outs to some of the people you have collaborated with? Plado was in L.A.’s premiere issue and he is your
little brother!
Omen: Power-Free is our Jersey connect, Vibes1, Mankind is on the alternative tip. Me and Plado, we do a lot of work together. He’s always got a
beat for me. I just got out of the studio with Devin The Dude. I worked with Numskull from The Luniz. I cyphered with Method Man and a couple
of the WuTang cats. My new track. Necessary, was produced and mixed by Tim Curry. I’m For Real features Whom ever wants to write and summit it to label will be on this joint that's coming soon produced by Donnie King. Condaleeza was produced by Plado. I’m also on a mixtape hosted by Paul Wall produced by Flipcyde from out of Texas.
LA: I ran into him when he was in Tucson a few weeks ago. He’s a real cool dude. He had a show out here.
Omen: I got some features in my video from Lazie Bone and Lil Eazy-E.
LA: Going back to your upbringing; do you feel people are products of their environment and by you being exposed to many different areas that has influenced your many “shades†of sounds?
Omen: Absolutely, it has had a big influence on my music. I was never exposed to just one thing. I’ve seen a lot, and I’ve heard a lot. There are
so many different styles and lingos. It was a big plus for me in my life. I can related to anything and anything can relate to Wolfgang. I lived in
Darmstadt, Germany between the ages of 13-15. My wife was a military brat too. It was fun, it was wild!
LA: You know Latin Affiliated loves the kids and we were wondering what type of advice can you give to them as inspiring artists entering the music
business?
Omen: You have to put God first. If you want to be successful, understand that everything is possible through Christ. Also, surround yourself with positive people. Last but not least, when you do something, put your heart into and give it your all. People can tell when you slack on things. You’ll get a lot of respect putting your everything into it, whether they like it or not, and you’ll go far in this business.
LA: Behind the scenes in the entertainment business, sometimes it’s nothing nice and I agree with you that you definitely need that positivity
around you. What’s next for you Omen?
Omen: My short term goal is for my new album Goosebump Factor, to go platinum. You going to catch chills when you listen to it! You know how
you get goose bumps hear something that touches you. That’s what the album is like. We’re still deciding on what single to put out first. We just
shot the video for Is It Necessary. The other club banger is And She.
LA: I listened to that, the fact that you could make up rhyme after rhyme and flow after flow off of those two words And She proves
to me how talented you are.
Omen: I’m getting exposure for that song out here in Texas, I went number one on the radio station out here. It topped the charts over Eminem.
LA: When’s the official release date?
Omen: We’re going to drop it in Sept, 2007. You’ll be able to pick it up at all of your local record stores all across the country. Right now you can check it out on myspace/omenwolfgang9000. You can watch some videos
there and get some nice previews on me and my music.
LA: What is a cool experience that you have had with a fan on stage or after a performance?
Omen: The fans get pretty crazy, a lot! A couple of times a fan has cried because I signed something for them. That’s what touches me the most. I think “Wow, they’re really feeling my music.†I want them to know that they can do the same thing that I’m doing. It just takes hard work. I’ve performed
for many different age groups from doing shows at middle schools but mostly my music is adult. It’s club stuff.
LA: What’s going on with your distribution
deal?
Omen: The deal will be sealed by the release date of the album and R.O.I. Records is excited. All the major details will be released soon.
LA: Congratulations! We will be keeping updated with you and don’t forget, cop the album!Interview by Angelica P. aka Angie Smallz
