TEACHING PHILOSOPHY AND GOALS:
I focus as much as possible on a student-centered approach to learning. My goal is to have a relationship with each student that is based on an absolute respect and acceptance of their individuality. I believe that this will create an atmosphere that is ideal for learning.
While creating a strong foundation for the development of musical skills through various method books (selected according to the student's individual needs), my focus is also on providing students at every level with a wide variety of appealing options for supplementary literature. Students are always involved in the learning process; choosing repertoire, setting goals, making self-evaluations, and writing out assignments, among other things. Through this approach, I hope to help each student develop into a well-rounded musician who is self-motivated and independent.
Curriculum covers all areas of musicianship: reading skills, theory, rhythm, improvisation, composition, ear-training, etc.
