The Popsicles

About Me

The Popsicles currently exist in a state of flux. read the article in the pitch below for more detail. More details as we get ourhands on them. Thank you. ............................................................ ............................... Here, in brief is an interview/article with Eric shortly after his emergence from the hospital where he;d been for 6 weeks because of being struck by a car whilst riding his bicycle. It is penned by Crystal Wiebe and, should you be a bit out of the loop... will fill details in, etc. http://www.pitch.com/2008-01-24/music/erick-s-wrecks/full ............................................................ ............................... The Popsicles were an eight-piece pop band based out of Kansas City, Missouri. Originally an duet, consisting of Erika Marshall and Erick Sharda, they formed in early 2004 under the name The Suicide Club and began to compose a bizarre acoustic blend of punk, glam, and cute, cute softness. ............................................................ ....................................................... They made two recordings during this incarnation, both of which are available through the band at shows, or via this page. The first is a 4 song EP (You're Not The Only One With A Secret), which finds the band in their early days and catches their simple, no bones approach to music. ............................................................ ...................................................... Between this recording and the completion of the next, it became apparent that there are many, many metal bands who use the name The Suicide Club. It became confusing, and The Suicide Club changed their name to The Popsicles. ............................................................ ....................................................... The second is a full length (The Popsicles Sing Their Favorites). It features 15 tracks (including re-recorded versions of all songs from the EP). This album was recorded in the attic of Andrew Kirk, with Mr. Kirk taking a hands on approach to the recording. "...Favorites" is, despite the oft-woeful tone of the lyrics, a child-like record, filled with glee. The Pitch describes it 'an album of stripped, raw, and dark pop tunes.' The songs available on this page are taken from this record. The Pitch Weekly and Jason Harper were kind enough to feature us: http://www.pitch.com/Issues/2007-01-25/music/interview2.html ............................................................ ..................................................... Also, Present Magazine just put a live review of The Popsicles in their new issue: http://presentmagazine.com/full_content.php?article_id=304&a mp;full=yes
