Born as an 80’s baby in Oakland, California Sinestro Enigma has seen a lot. Even at an early age he knew that music was his calling. While growing up he was exposed to everything from Tower of Power to Toni Toni Toni from Too $hort to LL Cool J. He memorized so many of songs that by elementary school he started penning his own. Around this time his family, like so many others in the community began to feel the effects of the crack epidemic that was growing in Oakland. His family in particular was struck hard by this phenomenon with his father becoming addicted to the drug and leaving the household in limbo. In the face of being lost his mother and extended family did everything in their power to make sure that a young Sinestro stayed on the right path and off of the mean streets of Oakland. But like so many others in the “Town†Sinestro heard the fast money calling and tried his hand at hustling. Reality set in once he saw how many of his friends ended up incarcerated or killed so he decided to make a change. Sinestro knew that music could be his salvation and put more energy and effort towards that and less on the streets. During that time he met up with Etah Allah and formed MP 3.8 a group that was the creation of Roy Miles, their manager at the time. MP 3.8 was also a part of Cytoplasmz a collection of emcees and producers from various parts of the Bay Area. As part of this collective he has shared the stage with some of the biggest acts in the business like The Fugees, Wu Tang Clan and DJ Quik. In late 2002 the crew disbanded and Sinestro joined Blackstone Productions led by Moses Millyons. More focused on production he spent the next couple of years honing his craft while picking up production credits on various Sega video game titles. In 2004 his best friend and engineer John Scanlon created a label called Ill Genetics and Sinestro signed on as an artist as well as the head of production. Since joining Ill Genetics he has enjoyed success with all three projects released by the imprint to date. For Educational Purposes Only, Any Hood Any Where and his solo debut Middle East Oakland. Also as a producer is creating an even bigger splash with tracks submitted to artists like Peedi Pablo, Sandman from the REUP Gang, Balance, Beeda Weeda, Kaz Kyzah (The Team), Shake Da Mayor, Jimmie Reign, Doey Rock, Havikk formally of South Central Cartel and DMX to name a few. This, a debut group effort from Baywurld coming this spring, a new solo album ("Think Hood") coming this summer and interest from some major labels looks like more continued success for one of Oakland’s own. So just remember, Sinestro is the name, Think Hood is the album, Ill Genetics is the label and Baywurld is the movement. Get money.
