Prana Trio

About Me

Prana is a Sanskrit word translating into breath, vital energy, or life force. Yet, its actual meaning goes beyond these descriptions; it is really the primary energy of the universe.

Prana Trio was established to transfer this universal idea of breath into a format based around musical improvisation. The trio is dedicated to composing songs and taking departures inspired by the ancient texts and poetry of Rumi, Hafiz, Lao Tsu, Shankarcarya, Kabir, Issa and others. This ensemble has been recognized by reviewers across the globe as being one of the few truly unique and original pure groups on the music scene today. Prana Trio has released two albums: Pranam (2006) and After Dark (2004) and has since performed in a wide spectrum of venues including the world renowned Jordan Hall, Center for Improvised Music, Knitting Factory, Ryles Jazz Club, the Zeitgeist Gallery, as well as festivals and sacred places.
