Rachel Michelle Dorsey is a young aspiring singer/songwriter. She has just finished attending Musician’s Institute in an effort to master her craft. She has grown up surrounded by music, friends, and family. She finds life, and the joys and pains of it, a true inspiration for her music. Most songs start out as poems and evolve into a musical representation of emotion with a poetic flare. Music is the truest form of expression and passion for this young girl and it is where she finds her voice.
Growing up, she was involved in her share of choirs, plays/musicals, singing groups, and worship teams. Her music definitely grew from a young age. Always on stage, she found her niche. Music was one of the few things she loved and found satisfaction in persuing. Once she discovered this, music became her life and eventually her joy.
Some of the strongest influences for her music are Sara Bareilles, Regina Spektor, Ben Gibbord, and Jeff Tweedy. The metaphoric descriptions and abstract thinking behind these great artists definitely has had an impact on the structure and poetry of her songs. Musicians aside, the strongest forces behind her music is her God, her family, a few close friends, and of course, boys that have come and gone throughout her life. A good portion of her music tries to focus on bigger issues then just the pangs of relationships. She presently is working on creating an arsenal of songs that will eventually turn into a record. She is looking forward to her journey in music and wants nothing more then to express her heart and mind in the art of song.
