About Me

Although my parents met each other while kicking heroin they never quite kicked the habit completly until very recently in my life. Because of this my family was separated while I was very young. I remember that my sister used to play the flute so when I got an opportunity in the 6th grade I took it up in school as a way to remind myself of her. I started listening to classical music, Beethoven in particular. When I heard the "Moonlight" Sonata I knew instantly that I had to learn piano and compose! I remember that it took me 6 months because I lacked any formal training other than the mediocre middle school curriculum I had underwent for a year. In the 9th grade my dad and I joined a Christian ministry called "Set Free" where I played keyboards for them. I received what I call a large part of my "street" training for the next 2-3 years with them. Somewhere along the line I picked up guitar as well. After high school I joined the USMC where I worked at the NSA; this took a substantial chunk out of my life. Afterwards I pursued an education at UC Irvine where I obtained a bachelor's degree in music performance with an emphasis on composition. Although I've only written a few paragraphs here I can easily write a book detailing my biography (I'm 27, still probably have a ways to go.) But God has certainly blessed me and I am eternally grateful for where I am today.
This video is a demo for a past client of mine. I did 90% of the orchestration and arrangments you'll see. For this particular client the son and daughter compose pieces for the piano which I later arrange and orchestrate. Hope you like, and remember, I'm always open for more work!

Influences: God, Jesus the Christ (The Ultimate Rebel), mathematics, proportion, harmony, Beauty, Art, Truth, Victor Wooten, Stephen Wolfram, Alex Grey, Daniel Pinchbeck and Ken Wilber (the greatest thinking minds of our day), plain simple fun, the feeling of being a child again, Beethoven (of course!), Bach (J.S. and C.P.E.), Brahms (best fucking requiem in the world!), Tavener (Song of Athene always gives me tears), Messiaen, Kei Akagi (greatest jazz musician, nay, artist in my eyes), Tchaikovsky (your music was too beautiful for you to suffer as much as you did), Rachmaninoff, Fernando Botero (for being himself), Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, Danny Carey, and Justin Chancellor (greatest musical/artistic/spiritual ensemble of our day; thank you for opening my eyes to all quadrants and levels), Zapp&Roger (jammin' out!), Yellowjackets, Richard Strauss (Tod und Verklarung taught me the meaning of finality, mortality, and life), Steve Vai (For the Love of God, a marriage of intellect and intuition and also an excellent transcription of the human condition), STP (great songs), Snoop and Dr. Dre (for being gangsta!), Sepultura, Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead (of course), Pantera (the most manliest music in the universe, this stuff'll put hair on your chest, it'll put hair on your hair!), Michael McDonald (master of the song), The Mars Volta (greatest jam band of all time, most forward thinking musicians all-around; thank you for pushing the art forward whilst staying grounded, somewhat, haha), Shigeru Miyamoto, Koji Kondo, et al., The Nintendo Entertainment System, SNES, Christopher Knight & Robert Lomas (for extreme, iconoclastic paradigm of thinking, not being afraid to ask questions, and for being extremely un-biased in the midst of infomation; I could write a whole page about you two) Mahavishnu Orchestra (you guys were waaaaaaay ahead of your time, also way too underrated), Ludacris (keeping it real), Led Zeppelin (the epitome of a genre), J.U.S.T.I.C.E., Jamiroquai (again, waaaaay ahead of your time), Interpol (masters of big sound), House of OM (greatest dance label in the world), Holst (one of the greatest composers of all time, The Planets suite is beautiful in its entirety), Handel (greatest pieces for the harpsichord), Grieg (master of the lyric form), Gorillaz (fun music to listen to), Samuel Smith (greatest beer in the world!), Gnarls Barkley (always staying true to himself), Garbage (where'd you guys go?), Zappa (master of the weird, another of the greatest minds of our time), Elliot Goldenthal (dopest soundtrack composers of our day, Danny's got nothing on you!), Ennio Morricone (The Ecstasy of Gold, need I say more?), Earth, Wind & Fire (sexiest songs ever), The Doors (jammin' the hell out), Debussy (one of the most original composers ever, absolutely beautful music; La Mer is a perfect transcription of subject), Danzig, D12 (nasty fools!), Daft Punk (music that makes me so happy, a rarity), The Crystal Method (masters of groovin' the hell out, masters of the electronic, masters of dance!), CCR, Colette (sexy dance songs), Chris Hanlin (greatest blues singer... ever), Retro Remix Revue (greatest video game cover band), Michael Hedges (God took you home much too soon)...
Sounds Like: Most of my composed music sounds largely classical though I glean the essence of my rock interest and background to breathe new life into this old genre: improvisation from Pantera, controlled chaos from The Mars Volta, harmonic demolition from Metallica, and multiple/irregular time signatures from Tool. Lately I've been dabbling a bit with bitonality and atonality (though not quite strict.)
My electronic stuff mostly consists of covers of rock&roll and Nintendo stuff! After listening to my Nintendo remixes you might say "There's no 8-bit, low-fi sounds." I know, that's my goal. Although I absolutely love those old skool, analog sounds my goal isn't to recreate 8-bit sounds, like a chiptune artist, but rather I'm just having fun with the songs from old games and remixing them as if they were composed in 2008 instead of 1981. I hope you like, and please contact me if you're interested in my services or booking a show!
