James spends his musical career temporarily underground preparing for the next step and his first release. His musical influences in the realm of Jazz include: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Charlie Parker. Stylistically, James says he sounds "Raw and Dark, nothing like the smooth sounding saxophone playing cop-outs you hear over the radio". James plays alto and tenor saxophone (both Unison brand), clarinet (Yamaha brand), and piano and percussion when necessary.
