Remmington Steele

About Me

Remmington Steele born Jose Dejesus in York, P.A. was raised in Bushwick Brooklyn. Remmington Steele was the eldest of three . As a child he began to show remarkable talent in art, drawing, music, and poetry and by the age of seven he began playing different instruments. By age 12 he was accepted into a talented junior high school program for music and arts . Exposed to various types of music from hip-hop, R&B, freestyle and reggae, Remmington Steele began writing freestyle songs of his own. He then moved on to writing hip-hop verses and hook’s. When he was thirteen he was introduced to reggae dance hall by family and friends in Flatbush Brooklyn. He then set his mind upon understanding the verbal contexts and once his understanding of the lyrical context was complete, Remmington began to formulate his unique form and style of dancehall chant. Influenced by then and still dancehall greats Shaba ranks, Junior Reed, Bob Marley, Ninja man, Bounty killa, Snow and many others, he began performing at biker’s club’s, clash’s block party’s and small club shows. By the age of sixteen he adopted the stage name “Raven.” By eighteen he was signed to his first record label, but due to unforeseen financial problems the first single “Mop Slayer” was never released. Though this was a serious blow to him, the experience allowed him to build up his skills further with up and coming rap artist A.V, Jay Sun, Peaz, Neek bonds and Naptron. Because of the vicious nature of these talented versatile rapper’s, Raven formed a more aggressive chant style soon becoming one of Bushwick’s best unsigned reggae artist. Due to complications with the stage name “Raven,” Jose made a choice to change his name to the great beast “Remmington Steele”. Following the name change was the release of his first Ep “Remmington Steele Vol. 1 You don’t know me,” which was a classic hood favorite with the street bangers. “You don’t know me” and “My flow” are still local favorites. About a year after the release of his Ep, Remmington Steele enrolled in a sound engineering course at touro’s DMX program which he completed with song writer-producer The Button Pusher. Thus Killer Instincts Music’s 1 reggae artist was home with monstrous rhythms. Remmington’s wicked lyrical chant style is a force to be reckoned with, so be on the look out for the new up and coming dance hall star Remmington Steele with a venomous combination of reggae, hip hop, R&B, and more fire!! Remmington Steele fi come a dun de place zane!!
