When Queens emcee O-Smooth first heard Beastie Boy's "Paul Revere" and Run DMC's “Peter Piper†he knew that hip-hop was a tool he would use to share his words with the world. But the glamour and temptation that the streets had to offer overwhelmed O-Smooth’s appetite for the fast life, and he was arrested in Pennsylvania on conspiracy and narcotic charges.
In 1999 after returning to Far Rockaway, Queens with a different perspective on life, O-Smooth enrolled in Brooklyn College to pursue a degree in Television & Film Production. This is where he met his mentor and good friend DJ Master Shane, known for his production work for Nelly, A Tribe Called Quest, and Papoose to name a few. Recognizing his undeniable talent and refreshing, versatile flow, DJ Shane soon signed O-Smooth to his label Beat Mechanics. From 1999-2003, Shane taught O-Smooth some of the most vital aspects of the music business, as the pair worked diligently in the studio preparing for O-Smooth’s debut project, “Intent to Deliverâ€. Utilizing his educational training and understanding the dynamics of the entertainment world, O-Smooth soon began doing videography in the reality television industry.
Tragically in 2004 while O-Smooth was in Las Vegas on the set of a reality show, DJ Shane was killed. Amidst DJ Shane’s death, all of the recording equipment was stolen and O-Smooth’s entire music catalogue was lost. Dedicated to fulfilling the dream he shared with Shane, O-Smooth began recording again and released two mix-tapes. In 2007 he launched Bang Bang Entertainment, a multi-media company specializing in music/film and video production. O-Smooth’s resume brandishes hit reality shows including Run’s House, The Apprentice, Project Runway, and The Bachelor. Combining his musical and visual talent, O-Smooth is a double threat emcee, harvesting the skills to take the music world by storm. O-Smooth is currently gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated CD “Never Shoulda Went To Vegas†which is set to be released winter 2008.
“Never Shoulda Went To Vegas†offers an array of music unique and exciting, sure to satisfy any hip-hop audience. O-Smooth culminates radio friendly tracks, politics, street anthems, and club hits to perfection. “Never Shoulda Went To Vegas†brings his musical vision of creating classic, quality hip-hop to life. O-Smooth is destined for success, offering the upper echelon of urban music.
